OE tire is Bridgestone Potenza RE050A. It's like the most common OE summer tire.

I find that a little hard to believe but even if so, the PSS are 4 pounds lighter than the s04's which is a huge plus.

I dont track my car, and the fractional differences between the tires isn't noticeable on the street. Likewise I dont think anyone is going to notice 8 pounds/axle.

The S04s had better standing start traction in the dry and wet. They seemed to have stiffer sidewalls too. Maybe I just had too high of expectations.

^^If you've run both, what prompted you to go with the PSS over the s04's this time?

The PSS are described as "the ultimate" and I wanted to give them a try

I think that if I had gone from the RE050A to PSS I would have been happier. But I went RE050A to S04 to PSS. The incremental benefit of the PSS just isn't as big compared to the S04, which is generally a close 2nd to the PSS in every comparison.

If you track your car, the marginal benefit is probably worth it. But on the street, the difference in being able to take a clover leaf on ramp at 77 mph vs 74 mph isnt that noticeable.

Yeah, but those 3 mph can be the difference between hitting the guard rail and not

How's the turn in/precision on the pss compared to the s04? I've read the S04's have really stiff sidewalls, while the pss is a bit softer.

With the amount of tread left I should be able to stretch the re050a's through the end of this season. Next spring I'll price out both and decide. If the difference is only $100 or so, i'll likely end up with the PSS's. I ran countless sets of their motorcycle sport touring tires (michelin pilot road 2 - also available PR3/PR4 3rd/4th generation) on the last 2 bikes with great results all around.

I don't think you'll hit the guard rail with either of them

Yes, the S04s seem to have a stiffer sidewall, so initial turn in is a little quicker and seems firmer. I find traction control intervening more on the Michelins in 1st gear with heavy throttle. Maybe it's the lower/stiffer suspension--I replaced the S04s about a month after I installed Koni's and swift springs

I dont think you can go wrong with either and they both frequently offer promotions. When I got the S04s it was a $70 pre paid visa, the PSS had a $70 in store rebate (costco).

I replaced the original set of Dunlop Sport Signatures with a new set of sport Signatures from TireRack.com for 100.00 each. IMHO, very good all season tires, relatively quiet, Excellent Dry and wet performance with very good snow performance (G37x). Been very happy with them.

I run 760's on my S2000. The G has Yoko's envigor which is a all season tire. I led a group of S2000's through some extremely curvy back roads on Saturday and the guy behind me was very impressed how well the car handled. I'm sure that if I had a dedicated Summer tire it would have stayed planted even better, but I have to say that the Envigor's did a very good job even if they are duel purpose.

Add a definite vote for Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Positions.

Just had them installed today.

Went with 275/35/19 - 245/40/19 combo. Looks awesome.

Initial impressions so far: Very smooth ride. Quiet. Great handling. Smooths out bumps.

Coming from Bridgestone Potenzas RE05s that had very little tread left.

Love the S-04s so far.

If your looking for Summer tires. I really like my Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2's. They grip really well in rain and dry. I've had Continental Extreme Contact DWS's on my Audi A6 and they were also awesome in all conditions so if your going all season route I would get those in fact if I went the all season route I would've got those but since my G came with summers I picked up dedicated snows.

Dude, i'll give you the best answer here. Get Nitto Motivo's. The Motivo's are priced very good at Discount Tire Web and they last long time. I have had mine tires for over a year. Trust me I been wasting my money on tires that burn up super fast and finally started looking at tires that last longer for like $20 bucks more a tire. Only negative they're not the super best in the rain but just don't drive like a dummy in the rain and problem solved.

Hankook Ventus handle great but I was lucky to get 9 months out of them. Waste of money in my opinion.
