Running Staggered Setup On An X Sedan
Running Staggered Setup On An X Sedan
Hey guys, I've been lurking in this forum for a while now getting ideas and answers to questions by searching posts etc. but this is my first post. So I know that many people have run staggered setups on their X's and most have said its been fine and had no issues. But, is it good for the difference in sizes not to be too large, or what? I found a set of Vossen CV1's locally that are lightly used in the matte graphite color ("limited") in 20x9 and 20x10.5 for a good price. Not sure if that is a good setup for an X. Also, I would like to keep stock diameter the same and I do want to keep stock ride height. Thoughts, comments, concerns, suggestions all appreciated. Oh, Its a 2011 Graphite X Sedan with 15% tints by the way. Thanks!
Stock diameter will be easy to maintain with the correct sized tires. Seems like plenty of guys run staggered set up on here with no issues on the X. How much are the CV1's?
If I were you, I'd look at A LOT of pictures with these cars on 20's with no drop. Honestly it looks ridiculous, bro. I have an S, so it sits slightly lower, and it did not look good with 20's and no drop.

And listen to Furlow, he speaks the truth

A mild drop would be much better w/ those 20s than leaving it in 4x4 mode.
If the offsets are in the +35 front and +45 rear range (give or take a couple mm) you'll be OK and run a 245/35/20 front 285/30/20 rear OR 235/35/20 front 275/30/20 rear for virtually no F to R diameter variance.

I took a different approach and purchased staggered wheels (20x9 and 20x10.5) and installed square tires (all 4 are 255/35R20)for the AWD system. This setup has been perfect for me. The DWS tires are great in the snow. No AWD light. Great stance with a nice staggered look and deep concave rear wheels.

I intend on running this combination all year around. There is PLENTY of traction with the 255 width tires at all 4 corners and there isn't any reason to put wider tires on the rear to make this car have any more understeer than it already does.
