G37S Coupe - Michelin PSS Advice
G37S Coupe - Michelin PSS Advice
I'm looking to replace my stock Potenza RE050's with Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I've been running the Potenzas since I bought my G37S coupe - they're the only tires I've ever had on my car and they have a little over 28K miles on them. The rears have about 1/32 tread on them, so it's time to get them replaced...I've been running on them as long as I could, even though they're crappy tires
Here's what I'd like to know:
1. If I get 275/40/19's in the rear, am I going to run into any issues? Am I going to need spacers? Do I need to adjust the camber? I'm running an all-stock setup.
2. Is it better to get 275/35/19's in the rear over 275/40/19's? Any noticeable difference between the two? I'm looking to buy the tires from Costco and they only carry the 275/40/19's.
I'm going to be getting 225/45/19's for the front, so I should be good there.
Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated

You need to run a 275/35.
For the fronts, cough up the extra dough and go 245/40 and the car will turn even better.
No, you will not need spacers. No you will not need to adjust camber. Just get a standard all wheel alignment and you will be fine.
You cant run 275/40. It will throw off your speedo and VDC.

*Although how on earth did you get 28k miles out of the OEM R050 summer tires? They're OK tires for what they are, but for the price there's much better choices. You're going to love your "new" car.

No aggressive handling...mostly highway driving. The Michelins will be the first set of replacement tires for my G since I bought the car new and have never had anything other than the Potenzas. I'm looking forward to getting rid of them
So running Michelin PSS tires 245/40/19 in the front and 275/35/19 in the rear using the stock Enkei wheels shouldn't cause any issues? I wouldn't need any spacers or additional adjustments with that setup?
I love my PSS, but if you don't drive aggressive then why don't you buy a sporty all season if you're never gonna see the benefit of the PSS?
Thanks for the reply. Wouldn't a 245/40 setup in the front also throw off the speedo and VDC?
I drove very carefully with them

The only other tires I'd consider are the Michelin A/S 3's but they're more expensive than the PSS's. Plus there's no need for all seasons where I live (LA).
So I called my local Costco to put in an order for the PSS 245/40/19 fronts and 275/35/19 rears. The tire tech told me that running this kind of setup would definitely cause rubbing against the fenders and would sharply cut my front turning radius, making it quite difficult to make turns (compared to the stock 225/45's).
Are any of his statements true?

I've run a 275/40 17 on an 8.5" on the Camaro and it was fine. Aren't the rears on these cars 9" wide though?
