Question about Wheel Weights for winter rims

Hey guys, I'm new to Infiniti wheels so hopefully someone can help me out. Just had my stock summer rims and tires taken off, and my aftermarket rims/tires put on by Limitless Tire in North York, ON. Nobody called to tell me, but apparently I needed different wheel weights for the tires which incurred a $70 charge that I hadn't anticipated. I got into a fight with the son's owner after he threatened to take the wheels off if I didn't pay the fee (which I never said I wouldn't, only that I was angry nobody called to tell me).

They put on some Nault Wheel Weights, Reg-100 FE, size 1.00. Did these need to go on in the first place? Apparently the stock ones won't work on aftermarket wheels. Again....not an expert! Hopefully someone can tell me if this was a legit charge. If so I don't mind.

It's perfectly reasonable to expect new wheels and tires to need a completely different balance than the set you replaced. However, you most likely have a legitimate beef with the shop for not informing you of the complete scope of work. The price isn't outlandish.

I have no idea about weights, the only time I see clip-ons is when balancing stock rims. Aftermarket rims have always had stick-on weights. I never knew there was a standard nomenclature for tire weights in the 40-plus years I've been fooling around with cars. I shouldn't be surprised, though.

You know, you're probably going to get a REAL laugh out of me, but I think I'm talking about the Bolts. They just put my old ones in an empty weight box.....I think. Man oh man! Not my day. Basically they said that the aftermarket wheels have holes that don't fit my stock Infiniti bolts. That's where the charge came from.

Sorry, my man! Ugh! Rough day. Any thoughts?

I'm not laughing, I'm scratching my head. Bolts? Do you mean the lug nuts? Wheels don't all have the same depth and/or taper, so that's a real concern for him. Again, if he didn't alert you to this extra charge, you have a leg to stand on if'n you wanna get ugly about it. However, if you win he'll be forced to remove them and that leaves you ... where? See if he'll negotiate a settlement. Try to make him eat twenty bucks out of the seventy for his oversight.
