On previous cars the lug nuts had a chrome covered cap. They looked 1 piece but were not. When they got stuck & you tried to get them off the caps broke loose & spinned on the lug nut making it a chore to get the lug nuts off. Do the stock lug nuts have this problem?

If so what is the recommended brand & part # to replace?

I don't know if all the stock lug nuts are the same but yes, my stockers are a 2 part lug nut. If it does strip like that again u can just rip off that cap with whatever tools available. Under that you will notice the "real" lugnut. I don't believe it's a problem with our cars. You can buy different types of lugnuts. It just depends on the type of rim you have.
