New Winter Wheels for the GS
It's not so much what the offset number is per se, it's how to interpret it as compared to your OEM wheels and the difference in width between the two. Our friendly neighborhood Moderator is good at that stuff, though.

OP here, Good news. I mounted one on the front and checked for actual clearances. They clear the BBK with more clearance at the front of the wheel (BBK) as well as behind the wheel. Just thought I'd mention that I verified it in case anyone else ever wants to buy these same wheels.
I also found these offset calculators to be helpful. Maybe these have been posted a million times, but it gives you an idea of what clearances to expect relative to original wheels:

Post a pic! Love winter tires. They work better in more than just snow. Cold temps you should noticed improved stopping traction.
Although they may wear quicker on warmer days. A tire to look into for anyone else in a climate like yours, is the Nokian WRG3.
Winter rated (Mountain Snowflake symbol) with siping and softer winter compound but isn't affected in the warmer temps like a traditional nordic winter tire such as the X-Ice.

If I lived in North Carolina, I would keep summer tires on it and find a way to bum a ride to work ... or even take a taxi if that was the only way. Better than living with snows when there is snow on the road less than 1% of the time. Just my opinion, of course.
I know with some of the Blizzacks I've had in the past, you will definitely give up steering feel and handling when the roads are dry or in warmer weather. It can be described as a gummy/mushy feeling when going into the corners. But this can be easily overlooked in the bad weather when you need traction on snow and ice.
