Tire Pressure light question
Tire Pressure light question
So it's cold out, so it's normal for my tires to lose air and the tp sensor lit up.. So I filled all four tires to about 35 lbs.. And my tp light is still on.. This has happened in the summer before and I had inflated them back to normal and that light went off.. Why won't the light go off this time?
The TPMS may have malfunctioned. I assume you have went over 40 mph for at least 20 seconds or so since re-filling the tires (this triggers the sensor to go on or off per how your tires are filled). You could also have a bad leak or nail in those tires. Do you have a manual or digital gauge to know precisely how many pounds are in each tire?

I believe it is only about 15-16 mph and less than a minute. Whenever I have had to fill air in my tires, the light resets very quickly and while I am on residential streets going far slower than 55mph.

curious of the same -just upgraded rims and my tpms hasn't gone off in a while and i'm at 34psi all the way around with plenty of drive time. I figured one of them just took a crap from the installer and I need to figure out which one and replace it.
When you start the car, if it blinks and then stays solid, do this: https://www.myg37.com/forums/d-i-y-i...-for-free.html
A shop swapped my rims and told me I needed to go to the dealer to get it reset. Little did they know that there are geniuses on this forums

Its cold... There is your answer.
When the tpms's are in colder weather they can trip low tire pressure warnings. I usually set my tires to max PSI in the winter so they wont trip. Colder weather will always trip the tpms light.
If you want the reasoning behind it, its because when its colder out the air inside the tire is thinner and due to that the sensor has a hard time getting a clear reading. If you go on the Hwy for 5-20 min the light should go out if you are keeping a decent speed. That will be because the tires have warmed up enough where the air inside is now readable.
Simple science if you think about it.

Do you need to get new TPMS sensors when you get new tires?
And is one set of TPMS sensors better then another or are they all the same.
At 73K miles I've had the situation with the blinking TPMs before staying on solid when the tire pressure was at 35 on all 4 tires. The dealer reported no signal from one of the TPMs. They replaced the bad TPM under warranty since Infiniti claims the TPM battery should last a lifetime. At 83K miles the TPM light flashed again before steady on. They reported low signal from all 4 TPMs and replaced all 4 under my (100K) warranty.
