Michelin Pilot Super Sport

Ordered them up yesterday. They'll be in tomorrow but I work all week, so they'll be installed on Saturday.

Did a lot of shopping for these. Tire rack had them for $226 each plus $60 for shipping (and a $70 mail in rebate).

Went to the shop I usually go to (America's Tire) and they quoted me $973 out the door, including mounting, balancing, tpms rebuild, and disposal of old tires, etc for 245/45/18. I think that's a damn good deal so I told him to order them.

I only got 13,000 miles on the Hankook V12's. I'm at 2/32 and the tires wore evenly, even though I am at negative camber. Hoping I get the 30,000 the PSS are warranted for. If I do it'll be totally worth the price, but I just doubt they'll go that far. Say I get 15,000 miles... do they give me half off a new set? How does that prorated warranty thing work?

Well... my dad always said "life is tough, it's tougher when you're stupid".

I humbly report for your enjoyment, my stupidity...

I had just changed the oil in my car. I was headed to get these new tires. It has been raining, so the streets were wet and I made a left turn just a little faster than I should have and spun out. No cars involved other than mine and no injuries, thankfully. The curb got the better of my car and it is now in the shop. Could have been worse, but I am seriously bummed... with no one to blame but my damn self.

Gotta wait until she gets fixed to get the tires put on. One rim is surely going to need replacement.

That sucks!@#

Rain + slick tires = no traction . Been there done that. In fact, next summer will have to take it easy as my rears are down to ~40% tread remaining.

At least you weren't hurt.

Ouch, sorry to hear that Hope it was just a rim that got nicked and nothing major to the body or undersides.

Well mileage warranties are typically halved for staggered fitment cars, but they are great tires!

And I've always wondered about that.. Is it just because they can't be fully rotated, or is there something else inherent to the staggered setup that increases wear and decreases warranties?

I think it's because the tire companies found a way to get out of covering the full warranty
Sure you can't do a full rotation but that's not going to decrease your tire life by half. With proper alignment and side to side rotation you should still get 90% of the tire life that you would w/ full rotations.

I think the former is the tire manufacturers' logic behind that.

The estimator is done. They will be replacing my right rear wheel and repairing or replacing a few suspension parts and doing a 4 wheel alignment. Other than that, she's good as gold.

They're also going to fix some scrapes to the front chin spoiler. I should have her back by the end of the week, hopefully. Total of $1700 in damage. Not as bad as I thought, but luckily I wasn't going very fast.
