Hurricane Sandy Cars

I am looking at rims and tires currently off of some cars, some have been flood cars, others from accidents.

I can land an oem set of wheels and tires off these cars for like 400 or 500 dollars.

tires have been cleaned off.

tires were always mounted to rim.

is this a problem buying the tires if exposed to flooding.

I've read that it is only a problem if they were unmounted tires.

thanks.

Its still a good deal on the rims alone.

Tires will be RSA's with atleast 80% tread

I wouldnt be too worried about tires because they can always be replaced.

Only concern I would have is the corrosion on the wheel itself because you have to factor in if the wheel was submerged in water and for how long. Also you have to consider if the tire can seal properly around the wheels to trap the air.

Depends on which wheels they are. From the sounds of it with the rsa tires it might be the oem duck feet wheels. If they're sports coupe 19s than that's a good deal.

The 17" rims for sure had RSAs, possibly some of the AWD X 18s had RSAs (these would be the non-staggered 18" duck feet style). The 18" Sport Sedan wheels and 19" coupe wheels would have Bridgestones from the factory. The base 18" coupe wheels I'm not sure what tires they have or the 18" Coupe AWD X wheels.
If it's the 17" rims that deal is not that great.

thanks for the help.

I saw what he had, the rims were in good condition but the tires were crap so i passed.

I read that if water gets into the inside of the tire then throw it out. the salt will kill it.
