Being old & forgetful this is something I would never remember to do on my own so I just include it in my oil change ritual. In the last 4 yrs w/ this G I've only had to add air once FWIW.

I found out the hard way w/ my Toyota truck a few years ago when my spare was flat too

This has never crossed my mind. Maybe I should start checking the pressure every oil change. What pressure should it be at?

Twice a year... before and after winter.

I don't know if you've noticed, but when properly mounted in its storage spot, the damn valve is on the *underside*. You actually have to remove the spare in order to check the pressure. It's really annoying.

Look on the driver's door sill, there's a sticker with the manufacturer's recommended tire pressures there.

Buy a small air compressor that plugs in to your cig lighter. Cost me $20 & I have used it on a few occasions. You won't have to worry about your spare unless your battery dies.

Quarterly at a minimum. Before every trip out of town. Or anytime I'm in the trunk when it's empty while at home which isn't often.

Although I should do it more often, I check mine once a year. It does lose some air each time I’ve checked. But it’s such a pain to get at it.

I think this falls under the "life is too short" category. That's what AAA is for.
