Summer tires on the G37S / Clutch Slave cylinder
Summer tires on the G37S / Clutch Slave cylinder
Hi, been lurking here for about a week now have a couple of questions:
I'm in the initial stages of research on the car. I drove a 2013 'S' 6MT over the weekend and really liked it. Just noticed from the brochure that it comes with summer tires. Are these strictly summer usage meaning dry weather or are they good in rain as well? I'm in the southeast and snow isn't common but was curious if I could get normal use out of them and go to a touring tire after they wear out. They were very quiet and the ride wasn't choppy as I was expecting.
I've also read the issue with the CSC on the 6MT and it appears from the posts that there's an HD version available. Does anyone know if they've upgraded 2013's to include it? One would think so if it is indeed the fix to the premature failures some folks have posted about.
Thanks!

Summer tires a great for wet and dry traction in warmer temps. They are not well suited for cool temps, as in less than about 45F, or of course snow and icy conditions. If a guy lived in Hawaii he could use summers all year long no problem.
The CSC in the gearbox has not changed for 2013. The HD unit you are referring to is an aftermarket part for folks who upgrade their clutch to a higher clamping force unit. The stock CSC cannot handle the higher loads.
