What to do with extra tire?

Hey guys,

I recently took a road trip, and before I left I went to dealership to have them look over the car. Good thing I went because they realized my front passenger side tire had a huge nail in it. I'm not sure how I overlooked it. Anyways, they tried to patch it over 2-3x and each time air was still escaping. They offered to plug it, but said it wasn't the safest method. I ended up getting this tire from the dealership (they had in stock) - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ntus+S1+noble2

I didn't want to take any chances on a 4+ hour drive, so I did the tire purchase.

It's been about 2 months, and I still have the other tire (that they attempted to patch) in my trunk. What should I do with this tire? I'd say it still has 85-90% tread, and it's pretty much like new. Does anyone buy tires like this? Would I be able to sell it? Do I just throw it out, if so where can I dispose of it?

Thanks!

I, in good conscious wouldnt try to sell that tire. I mean you could keep it as a spare in a pinch. Typically the plug is the quick fix so if they tried to patch it and air still leaks just toss it

I had an extra tire in my garage for many years. I never used it. When I sold that car, I threw it in the trunk to let the buyer decide what to do with it. My point is that there is little reason to save the tire. It will only take up space.

if you didn't want to take a chance with the tire, why would you want to sell it to someone else?

Bring it to your towns department of sanitation, I think they will take them. Don't sell it if it can't hold air.
