Wheel for sale threads

I will probably be flamed for this, and that's fine. However, I've been browsing the forums for a little over a year now, and I just can't help but be puzzled by the prices of wheels on this website. I constantly see guys factor in the cost of tires for there used wheels and I found it to only be unique to this website.

for example: A guys purchased his wheels for 1350 and decides to sell his used wheels for 1700 due to the cost of the wheels. The justification behind this mark up is due to the fact that the tires cost 700 dollars without the cost of installation and balancing. Which MIGHT pass if the wheels were brand new, but this justification is typically followed by the rears probably need to be replaced and the front might have 40% tread left.

I've also seen members post alloys for well over 1400 dollars because they included tires that had 60-70% tread.

Now, there are a few guys who offer great deals, but the opposite is just too common.

Maybe I need to QQ, and stop being so cheap, but damn I can't help but rant for 5 minutes.

Keep in mind, many of those starting prices are just that, watch a few of the tire/wheel deals come down in price at a pretty steady rate once they've been listed for a couple weeks w/ no takers. I've seen deals start at $2k and end up selling for $1200 a couple weeks later. Can't blame them for trying to get the best price, and quite a few aren't really desperate to sell so they can afford to price high and see what happens.

It's not just this site BTW.

items for sale on this website or any other are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them.

in other words, if you don't wanna spend $xx.xx for the thingmadoo, then don't buy it.

supply and demand brother.

problem is, most of the wheels on this site are like $3-$5k brand new. so the resale value is going to be high if they're in good shape.

i get your frustration about this as i am looking for wheels myself, but nothing we can do about it but shell out dat moolah.

Some members overprice their stuff, some underprice it. No more so here than anywhere else. As was mentioned, if an item is grossly overpriced it probably won't sell at that price unless it's rare or a buyer is dying to have it. Unless a classified says the price is firm, consider making an offer to the buyer if you want something you think is priced too high. Or if you're just speaking in general and not really looking to buy anything, I'm glad you got the opportunity to get that off your chest.

Generally I have found that almost all car enthusiast forums overprice the stuff they sell by a little bit because they are attached to it or are trying to use the funds to cover whatever they replaced the item they are selling with. Plus they try and put a dollar amount on the "blood. sweat and tears" put in to a car.

This is especially true for a car that is for sale. You can typically find better deals on cars.com for similarly equipped and similar mileage vehicles.

IMO, the only "used" wheels that are even worth looking at purchasing are the HRE's, Volks, Works, Nessen's, Vossens, etc. If wheels aren't over $2k new, then you should just buy them new. People that are looking for wheels that are for under $1000- used probably shouldn't be mounting those wheels on a G anyways.

I'll toss my. 02¢ on this ..
Ive had 2 Sets of Rims on CL yet Ebay for 3-6 mo... Selling way under what I've paid for both yet used yes but still you cant touch these for that price new...Examples...
Stance with tires Cost $2500.00 new only 4 mo used and tires 70% selling $1,800.00 obo nothing and ut was lowered from $2k I've got LOW BALL Prices on those at $800...
Chrome Rays off a 07 G35 practicly flawless Rays Forged with tires Almost new 3-400 miles at most still has ***** on the bottom their that new...tires were 840 mounted and installed with TPMS and im Selling for $1000.00 thats like getting 3rims for free!
I feel others issues on this but still if we cant get a Decent price I'd rather hold on to them... you cant get 20's or the 19's with great tires for any of those prices I have them on... but agree their USED... yet too some are tight Arsed and cant see the Value of the discount thats there...
Stance were $500 each tires $150 or so but was a duscount break for the package deal... almost 800 off of what I had originally paid... as for the Rays they were a Spare set up and put new tires... still nothing ..
But you look into the Classified on every part... most are giving it away just to make a lil cash. Not just the wheels but grills, suspension etc ... you try to get these new then Squawk and try to sell you'd be WTF as well... lol most want something for nothing ... thats sad... I've bought used parts for my G as well but still look at new and what their asking... if its 20%-30% lessor of new pending condition of course I'd buy it no questions... I got what I wanted... a lil haggle is fine but be fair... reason I guess dont rip off people...
you bought a G... not no Honda...

Just my. 02¢
