Question Widest tires on factory 19" wheels

Hello all,
New to the forum just picked up an 09' Journey Convertible. I am curious, my car has the factory recommend tire sizes on all four corners. However, I see that there is a nice gap left in the wheels. I would guesstimate maybe 2-3 mm. I intend on painting the factory wheels gloss black but wanted to know if I could perhaps fit wider tires being that I'll be due for new tires within a year or so.

Thanks for any input!!

Most people go 245/275. I wouldn't go wider than that. You might be able to go a size bigger if you run like 20 profile tires.

I am running 245/40/19F and 275/35/19R on my g37s with stock rims. Love it and glad I made the choice.

What kind of gap are you trying to fill? Are you running a staggered or square set up? Like the others said 275 is probably the widest in the rear for a stock set up. 275 won't fit in the front though.

Actually just poped into the dealer the other day. Have a broken cooling switch in the seats. While there had em checkout the convertible and it's in great working order!! I actually purchased an extended warranty, just because of the convertible top thing! I'm ecstatic about the car, I owned an 05 sentra ser spec v before cuz I lost my IS250 in the divorce. I never thought I would get the modifying bug again. Now I'm finding a whole bucket list of things I wanna do! So yeah I'm very happy with it!

SwissCheeseHead: I'm actually running the factory staggered setup, but I found the tires a bit whimpy turns out I'm just better off throwing in spacers and lowering it. Problem is I cannot find decently priced coilovers, everything I see is like $900+++!!
