Bridgestone RE050A 225/245 18" Wheels Sliding

Sport Sedan, Bridgestone RE050A OE tires - 225/50/18 front, 245/45/18 rear .

Spent the better portion of morning and afternoon doing errands (~30 miles worth). On one particular left turn, I had to speed up to make the left turn light. It's 50F out here today. Just as I made the apex, I felt the @ss end twitch out a bit and traction control kick in (saw the dash light lit in my periphery). I didn't think I was taking that turn particularly fast or aggressively. I knew it was cool out, but with all the driving done today, tires should of been plenty warm. Those with michelin PSS or higher performance bridgestones experience similar results?

Are the re050a's (stock tire) really that bad in the cooler temps? I had no such issues during the summer when it was 70F+.

Thats the stockies for you. I experienced the same. I have the PSS on my car and they grip much much better. I can take turns harder and they dont slip (provided there is clear pavement and not a bunch of rocks).

The PSS's will firm up and slip when the weather drops down eventually, although I think they can hold up to slightly more colder weather vs. stockies.

Overall though, remember that no matter what summer tire, they are going to stiffen up and lose grip when its colder outside.

Its the way the stock tires are. They are a summer tire and once the temps go down they do not preform, they don't perform very well to begin with.

Lol... I didn't think 50F was that cold . During warmer temps they seemed quite good. At the rate i'm going it'll be at least another year or longer before new rubber is needed. Guess just need to slow down on the turns during this transitional time.
