Rim advice
Rim advice
Looking for some new rims. Not quite sure if I want to go 20s, as I don't want the ride to suffer and don't want added weight. I would like a bit of a wider contact patch, so looking for 10/10.5 rear and 9 front. I have a graphite shadow coupe, so was thinking of going a gunmetal type color. How is avant garde as far as quality goes? I am trying to decide between the m368 and the m310. However, the vossens are always nice but out of my price range for the moment. I also saw that some have put the z anniversary rims on with great results, but am not sure how I would find them in a gunmetal color? What do you all think? Anyone have pics of graphite shadows with these rim choices?
just save up and do it right the first time. you have a 40k+ car, why would you sacrifice the quality of wheels just to look good? also when people sway out the wheels on the g, they usually go with 9.5 front and 10.5 rear. id say stick with JDM wheels, they might be expensive but trust me, they're worth it. some of the JDM company are VOLKS, ADVANS, WORK, and SSR.
Yeah I agree with Kchu. Just save up more money. I was in the same situation as you and decided not to go cheap on wheels. You can always find some used wheels from forum members instead of buying new. It just takes time.
But to answer your question, I have not heard anything bad about avante garde and gunmetal will look good with your car.

A lot of people here think you need 4k wheels for a G but that's not always the case. I have the Avant Garde M368's riding around on the mean streets of Houston (pot holes galore) and they have held up just fine. They aren't the lightest wheels (26 front, 29 rear) so if that's a major concern I would steer you in another direction. I did not feel a big decrease in speed but keep in mind no matter what 20 inch wheel you go with you're going to lose a little because of the larger rotational mass. You're also going to lose a bit of ride quality going with 20's so keep that in mind. If tracking the car is your main concern then 19's or even 18's would be better suited for you. With that said, if you have the money and think 4k is worth the cash for wheels like like Volk, SSR, etc., then I say go for it, you won't be disappointed. However, if you just want to change the look of your car and not sacrifice too much quality/cash, there are plenty of setups out there that will suit your needs. Just do your research. Good luck.
