hey guys what is your opinion on the offsets and wheels size for an 08 coupe? i want a semi aggressive but still functional for spirited driving set up while maintaining a flush stance... (on rear)

ive been told by a very valuable source, one that is highly recommended by this forum, that this set up is too aggressive and requires a lot of work... and that a 275 and specially a 285 would rub and would require a lot of negative camber which defeats the purpose of the bigger tires...

another highly resourse, also highly viewed by this forum, said that it is a perfect set up and a 275 would definitely fit and a 285 can also fit without running much negative camber... and actually recommends 285 for this set up...

not sure which way to go... let me know what your opinions and recommendations are... your help would be highly appreciated...

 

Those specs are perfect for 275/30 and still within specs. Idk who told u that but I have also ran 275/30/20 +30 on a 20x10.5 w perfect camber. GL man I say run it you will be fine.

 

30 in the rear is perfect for a coupe and a 275 will fit fine no rubbing. u may just have to do some bumper braket shaving

I ran a 285/30/19 on a 10.5 +24, dropped on tanabe springs. I rubbed when I took a deep dip or took a turn way to fast.

 

Can i do a 35 series side wall? say 275/35/19 and be ok without any rubbing?

i would love to do a 285/35/19... would i have to shave the entire bumper bracket to make that work?

I want some rubber in there... looking for performance...

Well, both resources have had 3 different wheel set ups... and they are both well known on MYG37.COM...

 

275 on a 10.5 wheels is stretching... want to run 285/35.. would that be possible with a 19x10.5 +30?

 

It's not really stretching, I would go 275/35 since u want the +30

I really like these wheel sizes for the rear on a coupe... But everyone is different. As for tires, 275/35/19 will absolutely fit. 285/35/19 is a little more of a "gamble" because not too many people have tried it. People like to go with what's proven. 275/35/19 is proven. 285/35/19 on a 10.5" (+30) is challenging the status quo a bit, so to speak. Although, not impossible by any means, not too many people do it. But, as noted, your camber with that set-up will have to be a little more aggressive. It's a trade-off - more rubber, more negative camber.

Sharkey has stated that he rubbed going over big dips or taking turns too fast. This is helpful. The offsets he was running push his wheels out a little less than a quarter of an inch farther than the +30 will. Plus, he was on springs. There is no adjustability there. Are you on coilovers? If so, you will have the ability to adjust the height of your ride to accommodate your wheels/tires.


* With 285/30/19 vs 285/35/19 your sidewall height drops by about .56".

* With a 285/30/19 vs 275/35/19 your sidewall height drops by about .42".

My $.02: If this were me, I would probably try to make the 285/35/19 work...

No not slammed... when u say the camber has to be more aggressive, what camber range would this set up require?

And yes, im on Flex coils... reason why i bought coils to begin with... stiffer and adjustability when needed...

would i have to shave a portion of the rear bumper bracket? also, hesitant because i dont want to mess up my quarter panels...

 

I know he has 19s and wants a +30! He could try the 285/35 if he is not slammed it will look great, but if he is gonna go low w +30 I would strongly suggest staying with 275/35 to keep within specs and avoid going more negative camber.
