Tires. OEM or Other.

When I bought the car the dealer offered me new tires at cost and he would mount and balance, or I bring in my own tires and he would mount and balance.

I didn't think that he'd get me a better price than tire rack or discount tires.

He quoted $616 for the set of Potenzas mounted and balanced.

I priced a set of Continental DWS for about $950 at tire rack. This is for the wider widths.

I'd love to go with the wider Conti DWS, but the price is right for the Potenzas.

Anyone have experience with both tires or with the wider widths? Should I stay the course and get the Conti wider tires?

Be more specific! Help us help you. Tell us tire sizes, tell us if you're running staggered, tell us year of the tires.

wider width = more rubber on the road = more traction (wet or dry, not snow)
You might be getting Potenzas....but there are different kids of Potenzas that perform very differently. Like Alan said, specifics.

WARNING!! Be very careful of people selling you tires that cheap because new they are like $200 something each!. They may be new in which they have not been mounted but! they could be old in means they were built back in lets say 2004!

Check the build date on the sidewall see when they were made.

Sears got in big trouble because they sold a set of 7 year old tires as new!

Car is 2008 G37sport. It's got the original 19" Potenza RE050A Tires.
225/45-19 Fronts.
245/40-19 Rears.

The car has 25K on it now and the tires still have tread, but I doubt I'll get much more out of them without sliding around the road in the rain.

The OEM tires would come from an Infiniti Dealer, not just some car lot. I do not know the year of the tires.

I would like to go with the wider widths and pay the extra money if the OEM tires are not going to perform as well for me.

My driving habits are pretty good. I manage to get a lot of miles out of my tires. I do push the car from time to time, but mostly take it easy.

RE0760's are awesome, they are bridgestone, sizes match that of OEM and they will last you 3x longer than the RE050s..

Nice tread pattern on the Bridgestone RE760's. I was avoiding the Bridgestones because of the treadwear. Glad to know they last 3x longer.

I notice that they are ultra high performance summer. How are they in the rain?

Does anyone have pics of Stock Tires Widths vs. 245/45/19 & 275/40/19?

I'd like to see how the wider tires look on the rims.

I'd actually go for 245/40 and 275/35
