TIRES for G37S

I'm about to replace the original tires on my 2009 G37S. Can anyone suggest a tire they have had good results with? The Potenza RE050 that came with the car are pricey and don't last very long. I want something with a smooth ride, and something less than $300 a tire would be nice!

Contental xtremecontact DW or DWS. The DWS comes with 50k warranty. I have them and are nice.

Consider why you got the "S" version instead of the non-S. If you don't drive the car hard enough to take advantage of stickier tires, by all means go with the tires suggested above. Various readings suggest they're one of the better all season tires. If on the other hand you like to play with the car, corner hard, go with a performance tire.

Something I've been thinking about is perhaps getting another set of OE rear wheels and run a 245/45/18 all around. It will cost more in the rubber dept, but I'll be able to rotate F<>R.

DWS would be my choice.
Go to the Tirerack site and you can pull up charts that show comparisons between different brands of tires and list them in groups as far as ultra high performance all season, etc.
I have bought several sets of just tires and tires mounted on wheels from Tirerack and always been satisfied. They will list the tire stores in your area that will mount them and you can have the tires routed straight to the tire shop or to your house if you want to haul the tires to the shop yourself.

I had the RE0760's since I wanted a tire that would last me longer and through the end of my lease. They served me very well, with very low wear unlike the RE050's. They lasted me 2 summers with perhaps another summer of life in them. I really abused the tires as well, took very hard corners and what not. Great tire and great price, love Bridgestones..

Should be noted that I stuck with the stock sizes and at the time of my purchase (spring 2010) only the RE0760s and RE050s came in the stock size, now I see there's quite a selection which is good..

i've heard good things about the hankook and the potenza re760's. i drive my car the way it was intended...i brake hard, accelerate fast, and speed as often as i can. i need a tire that can keep up. i dont mind paying a little more for it, but i would like for it to have a longer lifespan than the potenza 050s that came on the car. thanks for everyone's input.

If you drive like this all the time, nothing is going to give you a long lifespan. Anything that does have a longer life will not give you the proper traction to continue driving the way you do safely.
If you drive like that, you will just have to spend more money on things like tires, brakes, and tickets.

no tire will last you that long with your type of driving, I can say that I really pushed the RE0760s to the max when it came to cornering and what not so I can say that they will last you atleast 2-3 years..

Cool

How can you say that? Yours have only lasted 2 summers (1 year of driving). We normally don't do snow tires here in the South - our tires are on 12 months a year.
