spare tire

I bought my smokey quartz 2011 g37 sedan 2 weeks ago and I love it. I'm really glad to see that it came with a spare tire, even though it's a donut, not a full size tire. My other car is a 2012 V6 Mustang convertible, which I also enjoy, but it came with a compressor and a can of tire sealing goo. No spare. I drove from Colorado to California in the mustang, but I did worry that I might get a flat in the middle of nowhere. I'm glad to see that Infiniti is still giving you a spare. I think that most people would pay extra to get a spare tire. The problem is that the dealers don't tell you that there's no spare, unless you think to ask.

Yeah the Mini Cooper also does not come with a spare... Instead it has run flat tires.
Its sad how companies are skimping out on things designed for emergency use.

Imagine being out in the middle of the ocean and not having a life jacket or a spare tank of gas to get you back to shore.

I believe the Lexus IS comes with a full size spare tire... so essentially a 5th rim and tire in the trunk.

So the trunk has room for a full size tire but the back seats only have room for a couple pint sized kids, I'll take the donut in the trunk thank you

I'll take a picture of the IS spare tire in the trunk tomorrow after work and post it.
It's 30 degrees F here and it has been drizzling all week.

Nothing like a spray of ice water hitting you in the face when you step out doors.
Damn humidity!

Unfortunately I think cars coming without a spare is the wave of the future.

I just helped my daughter buy a 2012 Elantra,Limited it doesn't come with a spare either, just a cheap air compressor and a thing of goo that you hook up to the air compressor.
If the goo doesn't fix the flat, the car will have to be towed somewhere to get a new tire. The trunk is setup to store a spare. In Canada the Elantra still has the spare. The only reason it doesn't have one in the USA is to save cost.

i had a 2006 BMW 330i and it didnt have a spare either...run flats.

which run flats are amazing..i rode on a tire with a huge nail in it...5 psi max in the tire..and i drive 60 mph for 45 miles..could barley tell it was flat.

i think they skipped the spare to save weight?

with that said..i cant stand run flats..they are $$$ and are loud and ride weird when they get worn down. then when you get a leak...they cant be patched or plugged.

+1 im glad my infiniti has a spare!

i enjoyed the way the tires handled...but i would not want to own another car that has them again.

RFT weigh little to no more than their non RFT counterparts.
For example - Bridgestone 245/45-18 RE040 and RE040RFT both weigh 32lbs.

From what I have seen, when comparing with RF car tires, there is usually just a 2-3lb difference. This weight difference could easily be made up for with lighter/better wheels.

Our spare tire is actually not a doughy either. It is a hybrid. Has same diameter but is skinnier. I think of donughts as those tiny tires. Ours does not have a distance or speed limitation to them
