winter tire package help for 2011 G37S 6MT

I have a 2011 G37S 6MT. Few months old now, and I know that I made the right decison. It's actually my second Infiniti (there was a most unfortunate German car inbetween these two).

I have reached the day of reckoning to do something for winter tires, and I don't mind going same tire width all around to reduce costs.

TireRack has offered me a package for a set of F10 18x8 wheels
with 225/50/18 Michelin XI-2's. I will do without TPMS. I am not looking ot spend a fortune for on a set that will be used an average 4 months out of year-any opinions? WIll these tires get the job done? My office is in the house, so the car is not necessarily out in the open road every day. Thanks

I have the same tires but I think I am on 18x8.5. I actually went through Discount Tire for the wheels/tires. I did not opt for the TMPS and lived with the light for four months.

tire mounters?

The G37S 6MT is also the first car I have owned, in which the wheels
fit flush to the hubs, rather than having the hubs seated inside the wheels. So when you buy such wheel sets, do this come with some kind of temporary pin you put in the lug holes, so one does not have to do an impossible balancing act? Do you ususally use one or two pins (mounters), when starting a wheel mount? Thanks.

There's a good chance you will need hub rings. I, like you, am on my second G but the first was an 07X and now an 11 6MT.
I am picking up my tire/wheel package this weekend, $1611 (Canadian)
A local shop (I have used before) was able to beat/match the 4 online places I received quotes from (Including Tirerack, tires23 and 1010tires)

Local guys can often compete with the online guys if you give them a chance plus they may offer other services with the purchase.

Edit

PS
Those Michelin tires are about as good as it gets for a dedicated studless winter tire.

I got a set from discount tire too.. They matched tirerack's prices on rims, tires, mounting, etc. Even included lugs and centering rings as part of the price match. In addition, instead of a one time balance, I get free balance for the life of the tire, free rotation, and flat repair.

Overall a good deal from them.

Too bad I jumped the gun a few months ago and bought a set of snow tires & wheels (bridgestone ws70 215/55/17) for a car I just got rid of (after 3 months of ownership). I think my 45 days since registration will pass in about 2 or 3 weeks, so i'll be able to post those in the forsale section
