General G-Max AS-03

This is a thread devoted to the 19'' tires General offers, to fit OEM Coupe Sport Wheels (staggard). Please be sure you are running these wheels when reading here for a review on the tire. You may be able to find this tire in your size, if so, please compare and contrast to your best ability, as I am running these in size 19''.

I am about to purchase these tires for my 2008 G37 Sport Coupe (staggard Enkei's, OEM). I haven't seen a lot of information about the tires, but see that they are recommended by Tire Rack as a ultra performance All-Season tire, as opposed to summer tires which are the tires our cars come with. Living in Georgia, I need an all-season tire, and these don't seem to bad. I am going to also purchase the road hazard.

We do not have a review of these tires currently as the have launched sometime before April of this year.

I will be purchasing these tires and putting them on soon, and will be able to give a review. I wanted to make a thread, because these are the only tires on Tirerack that are Ultra High Performance All-Seasons, and the other pair are Hankook's. Aside from that, the only comparable tires, are Max Summer tires, but I need All-season tires.

General is now affiliated with Continental Tire and benefits from the German tire company's experience and R&D. Having driven the AS-03 at Sears Point (nee Infinion) Raceway, I was impressed by an all-season tire that could deliver good, predictable performance and not chunk or disintegrate after heavy usage.

We've now got a set of AS-03s on Project G37xS and plan to have an update on the tires in the next issue.

That looks promising. I was worried that the tire would blow apart, if it ever had an incident that would cause that, or just wore out. As an avid Michelin buyer, I have never had this experience, but have seen it once or twice.

Good to know, they do not chunk (tire blowing apart when driving before it blows out, to give indiciation it is going to blow out), or disintegrate.

Hope to put atleast 30k on these badboys.

I look forward to both reviews! I may have only 6k on my OEM, but who knows how fast they'll be gone.

The 225/45/19 doesn't have a lot of options, and I like the stock stretch, as well as the car was produced/made for this tire size.

245/40/19 wielded a lot more results, and more tire choices, include Grand Touring All-Season, which would of been ideal, but unfortunately, those do not come in 225/45/19.

The car is my daily driver, vehicle for trips and I put a lot of miles on it. I plan to eat through a few sets of tires.

You got 45 days to try 'em (http://www.tirerack.com/images/pdf/warranty/GEN1.pdf) out, so if you don't like 'em, get something else. It's unclear from the terms if you're limited to replacement of another general tire, or you can go with any other manufacturer you want.

Actually I did not, Jsolo, thanks for that great reply. I hope I can get the next two sets of tires within a week. I am also going to get my brakes, and attempt my first brake job(on the G). Have done brakes in the past, but not on Big Brakes, or the G. Read a lot of information, and seems like it's a no brainer.

My father, with about $30,000 in tools (trying to get him to install a partial lift), sure will do the trick!

Pics of the tires. Tirerack sent me the tires within 1 day of my purchase order. Ordered them yesterday, received them today.

I'm curious to hear your comments after you drive on them a bit. I've read a lot of good things and a I'm interested in them too.

I'm looking at these tires as well since I bought a used 09 G37x sedan 2 months ago... another set which i'm looking at is Kumho Ecsta 4x, does anyone have experience with these? I haven't heard much about these and i'm not sure about Kumho in general, but these performed very similarly to the Generals and actually outscored the Generals in Tirerack's tests

This is only a thread for the OEM coupe sport wheels fitment.

You may find other tires in your sizes. However, I am only going to test the 19'' tires General offers. You should be able to see a lot more All-Seasons tires in your size, 17''. Our 19'' wheels do not cover a lot of tire brands, and we are limited to (Tirerack) a few brands, in the All-Season category.

With that, a cheaper tire, All-Season, has become available, and I wanted to get a good review and test on these for others.

interested to hear more.

i have a X sedan but running the front 19" OEM coupe sport wheels all the way around. I currently have yoko s drives on them with a 40 series profile that i use as my "summer tire" then use my OEM 18s for winter wheels. I hate the yokos and Im thinking about getting rid of the 18s and running the 19s year round on all season tires. The size I would go with is 225/45/19 for comfort. While I know this is a coupe topic, im still curious to hear feedback. As stated, there are few options for the 225/45/19 size.
