Review Michelin Pilot Super Sports
If you're concerned about tread life, go with an all season performance tire and not a max performance summer tire. Max performance summer tires are not designed for long life, they're designed for performance.
The estimate from Neal was low to mid 20's on the tires and yes, that take about 18 months for me. I can deal with a tire that can get me near 30K, but I start having second thoughts about a tire that only gets low 20's.
BB I understand specific tires for a specific task, I just want it all. Awesome dry and wet performance, low noise, good looks........ and.... 30K miles.

It looks like I will probably give these a try when the Bridgestones wear out later this year and see. I've really heard all most all positive things about the Michelins.
Prepare for disappointment my friend because that tire doesn't exist. Treadwear and traction are somewhat inversely proportionate. Pick whichever one is more important to you and get a tire that's best at that and as good as possible at the other. That's why race tires grip like a **** but only last a few miles. And grand touring or all seasons may last 50 or 60K but don't have ultimate grip.

On the motorcycle, sport bike riders typically replace rubber every 3-5K miles. I use a sport touring tire on mine, and am lucky to get 7-10K miles (michelin pilot road 2 with dual compound tread). 25K out of a performance car tire is pretty d@mn good in my book.

So, do you like the wider tires better than the original spec ones?
I need new tires this year and am 99.9% sure I'm going with the Pilot Super Sports. I drive it like I stole it and love to take corners at speed.... sounds like these tires are exactly what I'm looking for. I don't drive the G when it rains or snows......

To follow up after a few months.... its been nice and warm in MD lately. Weather in the 50s-60s.
To sum it up. These tires ****ing rule. If you are looking for max performance, this is it. On dry pavement, these are the best sticking street tires I have driven on..... same with slightly wet roads.
If you are looking for max mileage, then like BB said, get GT or AS tires. But they arent going to stick like these babies.
And yes, I like the wider tires MUCH better than the stock sizes. Asthetically, the profile looks perfect in my eyes, it doesnt look stretched like the stock tires, and the wider tires in the back puts more contact on the road.
I must give out a warning of caution. If you tend to drive a little spiritedly, these tires can turn you into an a55h0le when driving without passengers.

When I first got them I found myself compelled to drive like a teenager at times for no reason. Off ramps 20-30 MPH faster then the recommended speed. Abrupt lane changes. Downshifting to 3rd at highway speed and accelerating for no good reason.
Everyone knows better tires make a difference in handling. I just didn't expect them to make this big a difference.
