Tire Issues/Questions

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2009 6MT sport with the 19' OEM rims, and unfortunately today I caught a nail in my tire. Took it to a shop to patch up and they said that I need new tires because my treads are already too low. I have only 22,300 miles on it!! They also told me that my tires are wearing unevenly, however, they are wearing unevenly the same way on ALL 4 tires. The outside of each tire has only 3/32 left and the inside of the tire has 6/32. Has this happened to anyone?

Also, the guy said I can go up 255/40 for the front and 285/35 for the rear without rubbing on my stock rims. I'm also riding on stock suspension. Do you guys have any suggestions on tires for stock 19's. Thanks!!

Welcome to the world of staggered low profile tires. I think 22k is a lot to get out of them.

My mom had a G35 back in the day and she got about 8k per set of tires due to cupping/feathering.

I wouldn't change the size of the tire, the ones he suggested would be pretty beefy.

the OEM tires lasted me over 40K miles (Bridgestone Potenza RE050A). Last November, I replaced them with Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport, only drove about 9k miles and the rear tires tread is completely gone from the middle of the tires, the front two doesn't have any tread on the outside tire and plenty in the inside of tire. I just ordered a new set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport, let’s see how long they last.

So I take it that it's not that uncommon to have uneven wear on staggered tires since a rotation isn't possible? I was just curious to see if anyone else has experienced the same problem as me or if I have major alignment issues?

Also on a side note, I have been searching for some pictures, but haven't had that much luck. Like my original post, I am thinking of going with wider tires, but with wider tires, I would imagine that it would get rid of that stretched tire look on the stock tires that I've grown on. I was just wondering if anyone has any comparison pictures between the stretched tire look on the stock rims versus pictures of a wider set of tires on the stock rims which would have a more "flushed" look and not a stretched look? Thanks!!
