Yokohama S Drives on National Backorder
I need a new set of front tires (current fronts are Pirelli pzero neros and they are finally shot) and wanted to stick with Yokohama S Drives which I currently have had on my rear wheels and I love them. I had gone through two sets of tires in the rear before going with the Yokos all while still rocking the same Pirelli front tires since I got my wheels.
When I went to buy them the other day I started finding multiple companies were out of stock on them. So finally I called discounttiredirect and was told they are on national backorder. The guy I spoke to called Yokohama directly to try and find out when they would be shipping out more S-Drives and couldn't get an answer, they told him they didn't know. My question now is.... is this something that happens often? And how in the world does something like this happen when there is a demand for a particular tire?
I don't know if I should stick it out and wait for the tires to come back in stock, or move on and roll with two separate tires which I really would hate to do as I have been doing this for over a year and a half as I was burning through rear tires. My rear Yokos are still in great shape and have plenty of life left in them, so changing all four tires isn't an option, and I dread having to go with a different front tire leaving me with two different brand tires yet again, MEH! Any opinions or experiences with "national back orders" on tires would be appreciated, I'm stuck here not really knowing what to do
