Winter wheel / tire sizing for G37xS

Hi all,

I just picked up a 2010 G37xS and I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on winter tire sizing. Although the xS model comes with 18 inch all seasons, I was under the impression that the G37xS models had the same size brakes as the non-sport X models (only the RWD S models have the bigger brakes, no?).

Accordingly, I was going to put on 17 inch winters. BUT, 2 dealers I have spoken with are saying that I need 18 inch wheels because the brake calipers are bigger on the xS model.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Is anyone running 17 inch winters on their xS model? And, just in case the specs are different in Canada, anyone in Canada running 17 inch winters on their xS?

Thanks!

The 2010 xS definitely does not have the sport brakes. But I'm not sure if that means 17s will fit.

Yeah 17s will fit. I'm in Canada and my dealer has a 17" and 18" wheel package for the x and xS sedan models. I went with the 18" package becuase it was only $200 more, but it was just for aesthetic reasons.

@JohnEnglish: could you tell me which dealership that is? I'd like to call them and speak with them. Thanks.

I can not believe that two dealers would not know that the xS does not have the larger brakes. Do they even look at the vehicles they sell?

I believe it. Some of the dealers I've run into must have sold shoes last week and decided to give car sales a go this week. When I bought my 2009 G37xS sedan I had to argue with my dealer that Infiniti offers a lip spoiler for the trunk, he said he's been selling Infinitis for years but has never heard of such an item. When I convinced him to ask the parts manager about it he returned scratching his head saying "it must be a new option". This was December of 09 and the lip had been available for quite a while. Oh well.
