Lockable wheel nuts
Lockable wheel nuts
Hi,
I just had my wheels stolen. It's been happening often to G35s and G37s owners in my area. (3 last week alone within 4 blocks).
These security bolts, currently available in Europe might help. They're being fitted on all new BMWs over there.
Does anyone know which, if any, of these options would fit a 2010 G37 Sedan?
Automobile - Wheel locks- SL bolts (ultra high security)
thanks

the G's don't come with any locking lugs, they just come with 1 lug/wheel that requires a special key. and anyone that steals wheels has that key, it's very easy to come by
Yes, I had factory fitted lockable nuts. These do not appear to be much of a deterrent. I did some cursory research, and these newer German devices, not yet available in the US, are far more difficult to overcome. All Euro BMWs are now being fitted with them. This ring rotates at every attempt to open the lock, and because it does not present a suitable surface for forcing tools it provides even greater antitheft protection.
They are not yet available in the US (but you can buy them on eBay) it's difficult to figure out which part number would fit a 2010 G37.

The cops in Los Angeles apparently don't have time to come out and even dust the car for prints, so I expect to be providing free rims and tires to the thieves on a monthly basis.

Paul, very sorry for your loss!
It must be hard to see that happened to your G.
Do you have a garage to park your car or is there a parking structure near your work? Which city in LA do you live in?

The car was parked under my building but there's no gate. I live in Brentwood. The tow truck driver told me he'd recovered five G35/37s like mine - with no wheels from Brentwood in the last month. I guess the wheels are easy to steal and hard to trace, plus the cops aren't interested or too stretched to do anything.

OK.. a little more searching and got to this page. Has listed applications for G37's 08-09 but gave disclaimer about making sure parts fit.. "The information included in McGard's application guide is accurate to the best of our knowledge. It is intended only as a reference guide."
