I would get something rather decent and not just go for longevity.

I have both slammed on my brakes in everyday commute from freeway speed to almost dead stop and swerving out of my own lane to avoid hitting others......etc I can go on and on. All of these incidents happened in my everyday commute to and from work. All of these times I used my tires and could smell them right away.

Bottom line, I am 100% glad I had the RE050As and was surprised I was able to escape harms way every time. Yea there's a lot of factors involved like my cat-like reflexes, temperature, sunlight, color of my socks, and of course the grip of my RE050As, but at the end of the day, I'm glad I had those tires. Maybe I could've avoided potential accidents with the longest tread wear tires too but that is not a risk I want to take. Especially when my experiences were all on regular city freeways and streets.
