wheel locks?
wheel locks?
For all those who had their wheels stolen, how many had wheel locks? I'll be parking my car on the streets in OC couple nights out of the week due to work, so wasn't sure if wheel locks are even worth putting on. A guy at the tire shop said they're worthless, so I never bought them.
It's easy enough to take wheels off with locks, you just get a socket head that's slightly smaller than the locks and bang it on. You then use a socket wrench to remove the wheel lock. If someone wants the wheels they're going to take them.
Get a shock/tilt sensor for your G. OEM sensor is $65 including all necessary hardware. I'm guessing a dealer would install it for ~50 dollars. That way if your car is locked and people jack it up to steal the wheels the alarm will go off.
Lock your car and shake it and if it goes off you probably have one

With preventive measures you ll be fine. Just park your car by your window or get proximity alarm added to the stock that beeps the horn. Aslo some good lugs helps.. these run around $250.00. Every Lug is a Lock and ever Lug has a Cap
PS: Tilt sensors dont work when the thief evenly places bricks under all 4 sections of car lets air out of tire s and slides the rims right off.

Not just for Volk rims They are for aftermarket rims. Fits my XIX rims and Fits Vossen's and others.
Yeah its a bit pricey no doubt and they seem to be worlds most expensive lugs lol!
I had an ex car thief look at them and he said he wouldn't bother... too much work when there are easier cars to take from.

Btw. the key on those volk lugs just looks like a regular allen wrench? If it is, wouldn't it make more sense to use a special key design that's less common?
well in my days I new a few pro car thieves. Still know one but hes long retired and grown up now. If the sensitivity will work yes. But problem with that sensitivity is most people tune it down so the car doesn't go off when the wind blows too hard so it might work for you. But in most cases I've heard it doesn't work.
Yes the caps are a regular allen wrench and it could of been made to be a key but I think that would be a bit overkill. Its a pain in the a$$ (trust me) to unscrew all those caps then have to use a key on each lug. When I take it to the dealership. I remove the caps so I don't **** of the Mechanic any further.
They defenetely do look awesome on rims. You can get them with blue, red and black caps.

Well, the time has come to I'll be parking my car couple nights outside due to work. So I thought about motion sensor and also wheel locks. Hopefully that will be enough to deter the amateurs away.
We'll see.....
