how do i find out how much to torque this nut on the rear axle?

how do i find out how much to torque this nut on the rear axle?

so i'm doing a little project to fit some rims .. i'm going to have to shave down the rear axle a bit to the point where the cotter pin is so just a precautionary i plan on putting thread lock on the thread as well as the inside of the bolt to make sure it stays in place.

would anyone know the torque value for this nut that i've pointed out with the arrow?

RTFFSM!

I can't believe you'd undertake such a modification yourself without having the FSM available to you. The torque value is 177 ft./lbs. for that nut.

I wouldn't screw with something like that without if for sure.

greatly appreciate it .. just to throw it out there .. would u happen to know if there are any covers that go over the rear axle section so dust/rocks don't get into the nut? been trying to search all over and all i can find are motorcycle parts.

Not anything model specific for sure. But I bet if you searched enough you might find a rubber boot that's the right diameter and depth to fit over it that would work. Take measurements then search the web.

If not, it should be easy enough to fabricate something yourself, even if it's crude and elementary. How about a thick piece of rubber (thicker than a balloon) cut to shape and secured with a heavy rubber band or something similar? I know it sounds ghetto as hell, but you get the idea. As long as it works and would serves the purpose it shouldn't matter how it looks because the wheel is covering it anyway.
