upsizing to new tires

when I go to replace my first set of OEM tires I'm concidering going wider on stock wheels. Something like 255's or 265's on the back (not quite sure what the front would go up to). My question is what would be the correct size tire if I go up to this to keep my tire diameter the same, and more importantly, how does is affect handleing an accelerations. These cars don't have torque to spare if if the tire is heavy you can feel it in everthing it does.

Also, does anyone have any pictures showing an upsized tire on stock wheel in this range?

275/35 rear & 245/40 front. Fit perfect and give it a great stance. Also handles a lot better on corners. This is the closest diameter you can get without needing to calibrate your speedometer.

yup 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 will give out about 1" more tire while being within 1% of stock height.

Are there any good pics to see what this will look like, and while the car will obviously add more grip, does the car squirm on the rim becase the wheel is more "balloon like" than OEM.

I Fixed my numbers. The car doesnt squirm at all. It really doesnt balloon out at all either. The Nitto charts said the Invo's would fit easily on the 8.5/9.5 rims. I think it also depends on the tire that you choose.

That being said (about stock height). Do you think I would be ok with this modification to the rears Only? The front tires won't need to be changed for a while, but the rears are ready for new rubber now. If so, what's your take on using a different brand/tire in the rear than in the front?
