Dismantling a 3pc. Wheel??

Say if i wanted to paint the centers of a 3pc wheel.

Can you unbolt the centers while the tires are still mounted on the rim/lip?

Just wondering if its necessary to fully dismantle them, as in take off the tires and everything. Obviously i would let all the air out.

Also when re-assembling them, what torque should the rivets/fasteners be bolted down to?

Thanks.

You have to take the tires off and I believe torque is a round 23 lb of pressure.

I personally would never dis-assemble wheels on my own bro. I know legit wheel companies re-assemble their wheels and re-torque and pressure test every single fastener to ensure perfect roundness of the wheel. I know if even one of those fasteners is even a HAIR off, the wheel will shake like no tomorrow at high speeds and could eventually lead to bigger problems. So you might wanna have the wheel company do it for you IMO.

Just my ten cents bro

let the tire pressure out, then you can take the centers out, beware though its a PITA to get em out usually...sometimes they need a machine to seperate em...depends if any sealer got on em...

3 piece wheels are vibration balanced and reassembling them without the machine is not advised.. AT ALL
