Thats a very close call for a dealership. If I were your tech, I would patch that and say its safe. At Infiniti, we would use a plug/patch which will seal the hole and patch the inside. I've done multiple plug/patch in that location and it has never leaked nor failed.

Chiclets worked for me. Cost me 5 cents at the border.

That's way too close, my bet is that they wont plug the tire and advise you to get a new one. It usually needs to be a good 1.5 inches away from the edge. Yours seems TOO close.

I got lucky, my TMPS went off and I went to the dealer, they took care of me for free. Plugged it for no charge.

Actually, now that I think about it, I think it's too close for repair like everyone says. I remember I pulled a quick maneuver on the freeway once to avoid a collision and smelled my tires hard at work right after. If I did that with your tires and a repair at that location, I don't think the tire would've held.

Better safe than sorry!

It CAN be fixed but they don't want the liability and they would love to sell you a $400 tire. Go to Discount Auto parts and buy a plug it should work if not find a used tire place and throw something on. Same thing happened to my tire a few months back.

Got my car back, wasn't washed like I instructed and didn't see any scratch etc on the paint. Showed the service adviser my seat, he said he will order the part and will come in like a week.
