Tire Maintenance Question
Tire Maintenance Question
Normally in this case I'd RTFM but unfortunately I don't have it with me at the moment.
Driving to campus today my tire maintenance light came on, so I pulled off the road and measured them all out with my tire gauge...figuring it might just be a little low from all the pothole abuse. They're all running right around 40 PSI (little high I know, but I've got my reasons) which is normal and what I've kept them at since I've owned it (9000 miles now).
I let a little bit of air out of them with my gauge taking them down to around 38/39 PSI each. No nails, no screws, no tears. The tires look and feel fine. But for some reason, even after jumping in the car and driving it over 20MPH for more than 5 minutes, the tire maintenance screen still shows up when I start the car.
I'd hate to take it to the stealership since I think this is just a small thing. Should I just reset it and not worry about it? I don't want to just keep doing this as a temporary solution if it's a permanent problem.
Thanks in advance guys!

If it's the tire maintenance warning message on the screen, it's simply a reminder to rotate them. Even though you have staggered tires and can't this is set by default at the factory or dealership (I think). You an completely disable it in bother d=the driver information screen n the console and in the Nav screen (if you have it.)
Cool man, thanks alot!
I got a little freaked out..guess I'll reset when I get home. I've even had the dealer tell me I need to rotate my tires "next time". But like you said, staggered...so yeah not totally sure what he means (swap em side to side?
). But at 9K miles I'm ready for another maintenance anyway

With the staggered OEM tires you can swap them side to side and it will help some if you have camber wear from being lowered. If they are worn evenly across the tread width at 9K miles, leave them alone.
I tried an online search just now and cant find anything that mentions "Directional Tread" on these. But looking at the tread on the RE050A (i have these memorizzed since I hit a pothole with 1200km on the car and slashed the tire - $400 to replace in Canada), it appears the water channels start on the inside of the car and run at an angle up and to the outside. So as you drive, water is flushed to the sides and not underneath the car.

Perhaps you can, but to me, does not look so unless you are cool with forcing water under your car. Also, was told by stealership to never "rotate" but that could be them thinking I am just another dumb douche with a fancy car who'd be dumb enough to put wider tires on the front of the car.
The OEM Potenza RE050A are NOT directional. They do not have to be remounted on the wheel to swap sides. They are marked "INSIDE" AND "OUTSIDE" which is asymmetrical, not directional. All directional tires have an arrow showing the rotation direction on the sidewall and would have to be dismounted and flipped around to mount properly when swapping sides. I repeat, the OEM Potenza tires are NOT directional (unless yours are different from mine).

My tire maintenance light came on today also. It was set to go off every 1000 miles. So I don't need to do anything? I don't have navi, how can I disable this (assuming I don't need to do anything)?

Why do you think Infiniti says this?

I have the 19" OEM staggered setup. My front tires are wearing out faster than the rears and are getting very noisy. I was thinking about rotating just the fronts side to side and drive them until all four tires were worn out and then replacing all four at once with plus zero sized Yoko S drives. I was going to rotate side to side until I saw that in both the owners manual and the service manual it specifically says NO rotation should be done. Take a look at these pages.

The rotation that's mentioned in the manual is for direction tires, which if you have the sport model with staggered setup, you can't rotate front to back and vice versa in this case.

So has anyone run the stock asymmetrical tires with the inside marking facing out? So dismounting and switching sides and remounting again? apart from the outside tread designed for dry grip and the inside for wet conditions on the stock all season RE050As, this should work right?? or are they just designed to be mounted on the rim one way?
