Removing TPS from wheels...plz help!

Hey guys, I found a buyer for my wheels and since I'm keeping the TPS, I want to know just how easy is it to remove it myself without damaging the wheel. If it's difficult, I'll just take it to a shop. And yes, I tried to search, but couldn't find anything. Any help on this one would be great!

If you are taking the wheels to a shop to have tires removed (you can't do that yourself) they will take the sensors out for you at no extra charge. Make sure to mark their position on the car (RF, RR, LF, LR) so you can reinstall them in the same positions ok your new wheels.

aw man...that sucks cause I already took my stocks off and replaced them with winter tire + rim package and didn't even think about asking them to do that at the time. I wonder if I call the guy and ask him to do it, how much he'll charge. And hey Jeremy, on a separate note, I got your grounding kit yesterday in the mail...thanks so much for sending it quick bro! I thought you were going to the city of sin this week?

I'm in Vegas as I type this. If you still have your regular tires mounted on the wheels it's not too late. You can look at them and easily determine their positions on the car.

Glad you got your wires already. You got them quicker than most people in Canada.

you could easily remove your tpms without dis mounting your tire. here's a method that i used. you still need to be at the tire shop though. release all the air and push the tire back with the tire machine where the tpms is visible then just unscrew it.

Once the tires are off a socket or wrench takes them right off. Its getting the tire off thats hard.

BB, I just realized that I did not mark which sensor was for which wheel when I took them off and now they are all just laying on shelf. Will I get a warning light if I dont put them back in the right wheels?

I just wish that when I originally took off my wheels to replace with winters that I had known I would be upgrading to 20"s. Otherwise, I would of had the guy there taken the TPSM off the stock wheels. I called a local tire shop and he said he'd charge me $60 to take it off. Seems fair I guess. Now I'll have to wait and see if the Vossen 084 is TPSM compatible. Have fun in Vegas!

Thanks for the tip bro...I think since I'm able to pay $60, I'll just leave that to the pros. It's my fault I left this to the last second.

****...I'm gonna have the same trouble with figuring out which sensor goes on what wheel since they're just laying on top of each other in the garage...any way to find out?

Just sold my wheels, removed the TPS from the wheels at a local tire shop for $40, which isn't bad at all. In my case, since I drive an AWD coupe, all the TPSM's are the same size. In a staggered setup like the S model, you would need to label and differentiate between the front & back.

No matter which model, you need to know their location and put them back on in the same place or else the dealership will have to reset them.

Interesting...I wonder why he would have told me that. Worst case scenario, I'll just get my friend @ the dealership take care of it...I've helped him out enough with other stuff

Mine are mixed and matched all over my car with no error lights. The G's BCU does not display which tire is low on air like the M does. However, if you happen to have a CONSULT III attached to the car, it will display which sensor is giving the error code.

In short, your sensors will work fine no matter which corner you have them on. You get a low pressure icon if any ONE of the sensors picks it up, so you end up having to check all four tires anyway.

not if you're lucky and hit the right one on the first try
