New Tires

Ladies & Gents,

I have 15K on my tires 19 Bridgestones (OEM) and need to purchase new ones soon.

Tires have been discussed before, but need to know how your new tires are performing. Based on:

1) Traction/Handling (Wet & Dry)
2) Tire wear
3) Tire noise

Black Betty, don't you have the Yoko S-Drives? If so, how do you like them?

245/40-19 Front
275/35-19 Rear

If you could let me know which tires your purchased, size, performance and if you are happy with them, I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks!

PS: We need to organize another Houston G35/G37 meet soon. Anyone have a suggested date??

You should know Bridgestone also has the stock tires available in stock or plus zero sizes in the Pole Position version, for the same prices. The TireRack surveys show great improvement in all areas, including life, of the Pole Positions over the stock tires. Since they're the same price, only a fool would not buy the Pole Positions if buying Bridgestones. If you are comparing other tires to the stock tires, you should probably compare them to the Pole Positions instead of to your stock tires.

i went with kumho spt 245/40 275/35. only cost me like 700 shipped. you cant get a better deal than that with 320 treadwear.

if i had to choose again. i would have gone a small profile. kumho tires has freaking thick sidewalls.

Falken FK452's 255/35/20 - 275/30/20

1) Traction/Handling (Wet & Dry) - Dry is good, Wet is Ok
2) Tire wear - Fantastic (only thing going for them)
3) Tire noise - a bit more than stock, but not bad. probably mostly due to negative camber.

Would I buy these again? No, I'd buy Invo's

I have the Yoko S-Drives. I love them. I have 255/40/19 on the front and 275/35/19 rear (I think). Dry traction is comparable to the OEM Bridgestones. I haven't had much chance to test their wet traction but I can't remember any negatives. Noise iw WAY better than the Bridgestones, I dont notice any at all. The ride is much better IMO which is a little surprising considering they are lower profile than OEM. Handling seems better in on turn in and exit of turns but that could also be in part due to the wider tread and lower profile so I don't know if that's an apples to apples comparison. I've had them for about 6K miles now and they seem to be wearing well even though I'm lowered on Tanabe springs. I don't have the car available to check it with a tread gauge right now. I bought from Tire Rack and had them shipped to a local NTB becasue nobody local had them in stock at the time. I think they were in the neighborhood of $880 total including shipping, not counting mounting and balancing.
