Stolen Wheels

Since I have read about a couple of you on this forum that have had their wheels stolen, I decided to take some sort of action. If they want mine it will be a pain in the butt. I now have the factory key to put up with, two 6 sided lugs and two 7 sided lugs. Yea, I know if they really want em they will get em but I sure made it a pain in the butt for them to do so.

I just recently thought of something... if you ever get a flat tire, how do you get the wheel off? Do you guys keep a set of wrenches in your trunk so you can use the special key(s) to get the wheel locks off??

Yea the two keys I carry fit into a standard lug wrench, all I added to the car was one extra key.

Too much torque for these wheels. You can stretch the studs and damage them, causing them to fail. Be careful.

It's not too much... I know the manual recommends 80lb, so it's only 10lb over.

That's not too bad. I was mistakenly thinking the torque spec for our wheels was in the 65-70 ft/lbs range. My bad.

OP you are right, it should be a good deterrent for a casual thief. Nothing stops a pro. I've actually witnessed a general thug/opportunistic thief struggle trying to steal some wheels (not mine) in a parking lot and get pissed when he couldn't get them off and smash the winshield. I'm so glad I was watching and ws able to call the cops in time for them to arrest him.

Where'd yo get these locks and how much?

got the 7 sided lugs on EbaY, "Kyokugen Lug Nuts Chrome ". Cost me $36 + sh.

Not too bad, just another deterrent. If they want it that bad they can have it and I'll just get a new 09. God Bless gap insurance..
