285/35/19

Just a quick note that Tirerack.com lists the 285/35/19 as an optional tire for our g37's. This requires a new rim though, not our stocker.

Tire Rack may not reccomend it, but that size will safely fit on our stock 19's.

I wish I would've used that on my car instead of the 275. those recommendations are typically not 'saftey' recommendations, they're mfg. recommendations as to what range of width they feel will give the tire the most longevity and performance... it's more of a guideline...

I agree. The key though is checking the actual section width and tread width of the 285's you want to run. Some are quite wide which may cause a very negative angle back to the bead. I played with this for a while but the 285 Kumho's were just wrong looking to me and were a real PITA to install. It took a long, long time to do. Unless you have a great tire person that loves a challenge, this could be a dealbreaker.

Wow... A 285/35/19 hope your not planning on dropping your car.. That's a little too much sidewall for the rear.. I'm running 275/30/20 in the rear on a 10.5" wide wheel...

Here's some pics of the Michelin PSS's in 285/35 on my G37S 19" x 9" rims. I just had these mounted yesterday, and there's no detectable rubbing or other interferences, although I haven't bottomed out the suspension yet.

I plan to go with 255/40's on the front soon, too.

Will be ok as far as looks, but that's a pinch mount, and will result in sidewall roll if you really push the car. Not a problem for most driving but just a heads up if you plan to really corner your G.
