staggered tire Q's ?

Ok, shoot me for asking this question.

I noticed many people getting thicker tires for their front wheels than the rear wheels. Like 35 front/30 rear, or 40 front, 35 rear. I never really figured out why this is but I have an idea, I guess...

1) Thicker tires in the front gets rid of the wider fender gap in the front fenders.

2) Something to do with rear wheel drive, for more grip in the rear I guess???

Anyone??

uhh look at the stock tire sizes

and the 35 / 30 whatever number is a percentage of the first number.

so let's say.. 275 / 30 / 20

sidewall is 30% of 275

Tire diameter should be as close as possible to what came with the car.

Staggerd means the tire widths are different ... almost always wider in back than in front.

Wider rear tires helps with high speed lateral stability. In other words, you can take curves at higher speeds more easily. I have staggered wheels on my other car and it's FWD. And the 2nd # is the aspect ratio. The lower the number, the shorter the sidewall. A 60 is a tall truck tire, a 20 is a rubber band.
