I'd love a rolling shot of my car as well since I've never had one before!

 

Okay folks we're coming down the wire.
Judging from the daylight last Sunday evening, I propose a meet time of 4:30p Sunday afternoon, July 31st.

Can we get a roll call/confirmation of the players?

Important things to know:

1) Anthony Wayne Recreational Park is the place to meet up. It's huge, free, near Bear Mt. and easy to get to from all directions. (4:30p 7/31/16)

2) Cell reception in the Bear Mountain area is nearly non-existent. Get in touch with people before you get there.

3) Bear Mt. can be crowded, Be patient on the approach and departure after we leave Wayne park.

4) The drive is AWESOME! If you haven't been there, you're in for a real treat.


@TC: Rolling shots? that would be cool. I think we'll need some shotgunners to pull the trigger.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong the plan is meet up at 4:30 at Wayne park to drive up to bear mountain and then park in the lot and take pics and hang out? Asking because I may just take the family earlier so they can hang out there...

Updated, I also have a pair of walkie-talkies that I'll bring along.

 

Anyone who has walkie-talkies please bring them with you.

 

The plan as it stands:

- Meet up at Wayne Park at 4:30.... Greet. (take pictures, talk cars, try to look cool)

- Drive up to Bear Mountain observation point. (take pictures, talk cars, try to look cool)

- Drive down from Bear Mt, Observation point, around Bear mtn circle, across the Bear Mtn Bridge (BRING YOUR EZ-PASS) down the Goat Path to Annsville circle....depending on the time and the size of the crowd, we can take waterfront shots in Annsville, or the Peekskill waterfront park around the corner. (take pictures, talk cars, try to look cool)

- Drive to the other side of the circle into "Table-9" restaurant, eat and plan the Caravan for the August Regional Meet. (and try to look cool)

If instead, folks would rather end up in Bear mtn park that's fine but it is less photographic, has a parking fee, and drops the scenic drive down the goat path. (See page 1)

BTW the Bear Mountain Bridge is $1.50 toll (bargan compared to the GWB or Tap) and only charges for Eastbound traffic.

Confirming! I'm charging the GoPro and going to test the mount to the car. Also just bought a set of Walkies and will be testing the distance and I can let someone borrow the other. ARK exhaust is coming Thursday so can't wait to install and be ready to go

If folks prefer to start earlier I'm game.
Mid-day there is bumper to bumper and 2wks ago, I was there with VQNYC and they closed off the approaching roads due to the crowds.

 

Let's keep it at 430pm. That's a perfect time imo. But if we do change it we should do it soon so everyone knows. How about just making it at 4pm even just in case others run a bit late or hit traffic?

Agreed. Honestly any earlier and we could find the summit too busy to enter.

5) The Entry roads to Anthony Wayne Recreational Park is positively WRATCHET!
Come in hot and you WILL leave a several ounces lighter. It is navigable, even for lowered cars, as VQNYC was there with some 30+ and no one including me had any trouble... Just don't charge the exit ramp from the Palisades highway speed.
The rest of the Bear Mountain area roads are in very good condition.

Communications:
I'm bringing a pair of Walkie talkies, So is Kenny and G37Girl.
Mine are older than the hills, so if anyone else wants to bring a set just in case. Because of the terrain, expect LOS comms only.

MEDIA:
I am bringing my DSLR and tripod.
Kenny has his forward and rear mounted Dashcams
G37Girl is bringing her GoPro
Others are invited to bring their gear as well.
