6-5-2016 G/Z CHICAGO IL/IA/WI Cruise

I see nicer weather on the horizon. Hoping to do the day trip sometime this month.

I'd like to keep the group small. Route total comes in at about 550 miles round trip.

Date: 6/5/2016 , 6/12/2016 rain date
Meet time: 6:45am
Meet location : Road Ranger off of 90/20 - https://goo.gl/maps/z3jp1SHtay82
*Please park in the area in red - https://i.imgur.com/QP1nSW3.jpg
Pace: Slow in the straights, spirited in the corners.
Lunch: Red Robin, Dubuque, IA

Requirements: Be fueled (both you and car) and ready to go. I'd like to be on the road by 7am.

For those attending, the route is available in garmin's gdb or gpx format. West of rockford, reception is spotty. Verizon/att should have some coverage (at least voice). Data may be limited.

Stops are about every 1 1/2 - 2 hours, give or take. From past trips, fewer stops in the beginning, more stops as the day progresses. There will be lots of curves and corners. If your passenger gets carsick, they may want to sit this one out.

Likely this month. I usually do a few roads trips each summer to various destinations. Already been down south, next is north, then someplace west.

My apologies J for not responding to your email. I am pretty booked this weekend so I unfortunately cannot make it. If it get delayed I can most likely make the June date.

We'll see how the response is on chicagoz. I'm not dead set on any particular date. Only criteria is it doesn't rain so we can enjoy the corners.

Holiday weekend is not a good time to do this. Too many tourists and LEO's will be out.

June 5th is still a go. Rain date would be the following week.

Here's what the route looks like. It's no tail of the dragon but about as good as it gets for this area. Clockwise loop.

That RED route (along the river) will be a nice relaxing drive!

I do prefer from La Crosse heading north by the river....

I've done the entire route all the way up to Red Wing on the bike many times (and once in the car). Crossing over at La Crosse hits most of the technical curvy sections while still making it a day trip.

Coming back by superslab will be the 'chilling' part. By that time it's mid afternoon and we're all tired. I have done a similar route where it's backroads all the way back to IL and then some. Tolerable on the bike but more work in the car.

Btw, interstate speeds in WI are now 70 mph in most areas outside of Milwaukee or Madison, so figure 75 comfortably.

How many people are you expecting for this event? I'm still trying to decide on whether or not I want to tag along. I have to work till 11pm on Saturday and get moving by about 3:30am Sunday to make the meeting time.
