yeah the dealer said that it threw a code for the variable timing and then it wouldn't start. I am hoping to get it back today with the issues taken care of. They may have crapped out the ECU somehow.

Yes if they can duplicate the problem. Not all of the vehicles have the issue.

Was there a certain production date that this was corrected for? I just got my G about 3 weeks ago, so I'm wondering if I need to get the TSB update taken care of or not.

You probably don't have an issue if you just bogught it.

You will know if you rev up holding 1st gear and then let of fthe gas as the car revs down if it surges then you have the issue.

Just got my G back from the dealer for the "infamous surge issue"

-sofware updated & ecm reprogrammed
-SES-The code indicated that one of the cylinder was misfiring (not sure if that caused the surge).

My G is running extremely well now! They added 5 more HP for the troubles..jk

Anyone else SES light turned on with the surge issue?

Yes that is what happened to mine except my car wouldn't start after they did the reprogram and my code indicated an issue with the variable timing. Them replaced my ECM.

OK... its been a 4 days after getting my carback from the dealer due to the surge issue. I started the car this AM and i still notice a "rough idle". It feels like the car is about to stall. Pop the hood and noticed the idle goes from smooth to rough and continously repeats from smooth to rough every 30 secs. Any one else has this issue?

thanks

i never notice this SURGE ISUE... but when my car is in manual mode..and i try to shift 1st gear to 2nd gear...there is like 1-2sec delay...in accelation...
it rev it self and jump out.. but.. this isue doesn't happen all the time..
when i took it to dealer and my car was fine.. do they have to duplicate the problem for them to reprogram the ECM? or i can just print out the copy of TSB and take it to dealer

I took a copy of the TSB to my dealership when I was getting some other work done and all they did was verify I was in the applicable number range and they flashed it. They never did drive it to see if was happening .

i brought my car in for 15k service along with a copy of this TSB.

turns out after trying to reprogram, the ECM was fried. they replaced it yesterday, but i didn't have the spare key close by for reprogramming, so i just picked it back up today.

runs great!

I took mine in yesterday (Saturday) for the TSB. They had trouble flashing it. They said they were having trouble connecting to Infiniti's computer system (bs?). They said there was a CEL code since it was half flashed. They gave me a loaner (G35x Sedan) and said it would be ready Monday.

I hope this does not give me issues when I pick it up

Should just be a simple reflash.

What is up with them saying they could not connect to the corporate computer network? Sounds like BS.

Doesn't sound like BS to me.
