Drop in filters

I bought some R2Cs from a member and they don’t fit. I got them since I figured that most things that for a G would work. Any ideas or should I just sell them?

I have K&N drop air filter and at first they are a tight squeeze and you need to force it to close, but now I can take it out and place it back in with ease. Aftermarket drop in filters at time have just a small amount of more side rubbers just to not have any crap go into the engine.

I’m not sure I can. I bought them not realizing that they’re for the Z/G only. Apparently there’s a different design for the M. I’ll resell them instead of risking it

So far I’ve only found K&N and AEM for M37s. I Was thinking of getting a Tekada ram, but I don’t want to waste money atm

Interesting, it should have fit since the components are pretty much identical to the G37 engine bay, including the filter boxes. I know the M56 has a different style air filter system similar to that of the Q50 3.0t variant.

I would have to rig it by taking the OEM filter element apart and somehow attaching the R2C on it.

I only use filters that I purchase at the dealer parts department for my Q70 and they fit perfectly. I change them every ten thousand miles

You could try to hollow the factory element to see if you can turn the factory filter into a bracket that will hold the G37 element.

That's great information that you are providing telcoman. I dont mean any disrespect however your comment is useless and does not contribute anything to this thread. OEM filters fit perfectly because that is how the world works and we're glad you change them every 10k.

Though they share the same engine the boxes differ. The M uses the radiator cover/shroud to feed air into the boxes and the G37 has holes in the radiator support for direct air channeling. Pictures of the boxes and filters are different.

Well I had no idea. I just googled "M37 Engine bay" and it seems that they showed the G37 engine bay instead. I prefer the G37 air boxes more than the stupid radiator shroud I have to deal with. Seems Q50s also have that shroud.

Carlos, if the intake system came off an M37, it will fit with some minor modifications. In fact someone posted a tutorial on how to install it on an M37:

Do any M owners drive around without the shroud on? I'd imagine it wouldn't cause no harm and increase air flow since the shroud tunnels are extremely restrictive.
