I currently own a 2007 G35S that has a handful of mods however I am approaching 100k and am in the process of looking for her replacement.
My current goals in my sport sedan is more power/tq, good/decent handling (plan on doing coils and sways) and fun to drive vehicle.
My prospects are as follows:
- Newer G37S with Manual
- Q50S (3.7)
- M56S
- G8
- 300 SRT8
- S60 R-design
I wasn't considering the M until recently when I saw how quick and how much power the M56 has.
However I need your guy's help! I would like to hear your opinions if you have driven/owned any of these and how they compare to the M56S, How does the M handle on backroads and aggressive driving, and what is aftermarket support like?
I have read complaints of the M beinging nose heavy. Does have power but not much support. Could always get a custom intake/exhaust made. I don't know if anyone tunes those. Cool car though.
Clearly the M56s has a more powerful engine out of the box...it's a V-8. However, if you are someone who is looking for a lot of aftermarket support, then I'd opt for the M37s. It has the same VQ37VHR motor that is found in the G37. For either option, you have the ability to get decent suspension upgrades.
The Q50s - I wasn't impressed. It felt too light and spongy for me to take it seriously. Clearly, everyone has different driving styles and preferences, but it wasn't for me.
M56S - I love it, but for more of a classy "adult" sedan. It's a great ride, but they do feel a tad heavy. Maybe a nice exhaust and some wheels on airbags. Not a car that I would tear down and tinker with. Again...my own opinion.
G8 - Eh
300SRT8 - What's not to love about a HEMI?! It's a big a** car with a not so glam interior. But who cares...you have almost 500 lb-ft of torque!!! So yes, back roads are great if you can keep the rears on the pavement!
When I was looking to get my M37 .... some reviews I read said the V8 made the car feel to heavy and they prefered the V6. You might consider the v6 hybrid ... the electric and gas motor work in conjuction to deliver 360hp. I think the 0-60 is 5.3 on the hybrid which is the same as the G37 coupe. BTW .... I LOVE my M, with the touring package the interior is beautiful. Zero driver fatigue for long drives, handles OK ... again a big heavy car. Everyone who gets in it is very surprised as to how nice it is.
