New Infiniti M owner questions
New Infiniti M56x owner questions
Hi guys . I'm first time Infiniti owner and I came across a good deal on 2011 M56x that a friend of mine was selling used with 22XXX miles . So far I like the car . I have all possible packages and options for 2011 M56x . That year the sport package was not available for X models, but I have everything from the sport package-side skirt, real lip..except the sport bumper because of the camera fitment - can't fit it in the sport bumper . Now I'm thinking of upgrading the brakes to BBK and get some nicer wheels .
So far the car is great . Unique looking . And I'm very happy with it . Also I do not attract unwanted attention . But to be honest there are some negatives as well:
The car feels not rigid enough on bumps-I can feel the chassis twitching - even the plastic applications inside are squeaking . I wish I could reinforce the body somehow .
The road noise inside is unacceptable high . I want to check if my noise reducing system is working - must figure out how to test it . On mine the seat belt motors are making weird noise when disconnected to exit the car . The seats are too large and not giving a sporty feeling . I have the stone interior - I do not like the leather . It doesn't give the luxury feeling of a thick genuine leather .Leather looks "Chinese" to me .If I was to purchase new I would get the black interior-it is less noticeable . The rubberized paint on the steering wheel is peeling . The exhaust note is not impressive at all . I love the exhaust sound on the FX35/37 . I wish it mine was similar . They could get better sounding exhaust from V8 for sure ...
Can you give me recommendations what wheels to get . I was thinking to get 19" because I want to keep enough rubber for the winter and keep the ride comfortable for the wife
. Please give me ideas what wheels you think will look good on the M in black - model and size
Also this Akebono BBK is it really an upgrade ? Right now the stock brakes are one of the best things in the car-they are awesome . I never had a car with such good brakes before . It is just the look what i want . Is there another BBK available except the Akebono kit ? Brembo ?

Hey there..
My 2 cents on your issues.. I have a 11 m37 sport package and after riding my friends m37x yesterday i can tell you that mine feels a lot better... It feels more tight and responsive, it has a much better feel to it. Maybe the added weight and lack of sport suspension makes the x models feel heavier and loose. I did have some noise issues on the center consul arm rest wish the dealer is looking at, its driving me nuts!!!. Other than that 32k on it and no mayor issues.

OP .... not agreeing with most of your comments but to each his own. Maybe the extra weight of the v8 changes things. I have read many reviews where they liked the feel of the car with the V6 over the V8 and basically said skip the V8, not needed if you are considering this car.
My needs are different so perhaps my thinking is skewed, I have the G37 coupe for all my "sport" needs, the M is the comfortable, fits right, feels right trip and/or people carrying car. I don't want a throaty exhaust in this car, I don't want stiff (but it's not too soft either IMHO) in this car. No rattles on mine .... seat belt motors? They are motorized on the M56 or do you mean the seat movement motors?
I've learned over the years road noise can vary greatly depending on tires, are they OK?

I wasn't shopping for that car . I went to the New England auto exhibition this year and that was the first time to see this car.The previous owner is a friend of mine and he owns a car dealership . Therefore he was not the typical car buyer that will make financing and payments calculations - this car has every single option that exist in the price list for this model - and that is Rarity .
I never have owned a V8 powered car before and this was probably my last chance to own one with the trend of everybody getting hybrids and smaller turbocharged engines..Whatever. It is a lifetime experience .I've got the car . He needed cash fast . Price was right .I don't think I could have bought similarly equipped M37 cheaper . And now I have some financial room for improvements and I want to start with wheels and BBK.
The noise from the seat belts come from the motors i think . There is pre- accident system that tighten the seat belts if you jump on the brakes...to prepare you for accident..or something like that-i didn't read the user manual yet . Just noticed the noise. Not terrible problem thought .
About the exhaust you are right, but I did not mean really loud exhaust . Just deeper sound like you get in a Porshe or Audi RS4 for example .
Guys, sorry for my English- I'm from Europe . I hope is not a big problem for communication

there is no rear lip for the bumper on the M's at all.
I highly recommend upgrading to the Akebono brakes.
There are coilovers out for the AWD M37x but I do not know if it will be 100% compatible on the M56x.
You can read online for the owners manual about the technology package options that are in your car and how to program them

Rear lip for the bumper ? I didn't understand that one ...I have a factory lip on the trunk and I was thinking about getting the Wald rear bumper because I like the exhaust tips better .
regarding the coilovers- I don't want to lower the car at all. Actually the height feeling is one of the things I mostly like because i live in the NE and last winter we got a lot of snow . If the car is lower I will most likely damage the front camera for the active cruise control that comes with the technology package. My question was mostly if front and rear sway bars are available or any other ways to stiffen the body .
Thanks for the reply though . I have account with Importmonster.com and mostly like getting some wheel imported from Japan again .
