Painting silver to black... help!

My friend will be getting his mom's FX35 soon and he wants to paint the car black. Does anyone know how much it'd cost? He doens't want to use Maaco because he heard bad stuff about them. Anyways, he just wants the stock black paint. It'd be great if you could tell me the stock paint code.

Thanks.

Hmmm i would say anywhere from 3-6k for an suv because of the size. If i were him i would not paint it a stock nissan color, the paint is known to be very soft.

Aw, I guess he better start saving. I'm looking forward to when he gets the FX... We'll be Infiniti brothers FTW. Even better if he can get it painted black.

He should just leave it silver, black is too hard to maintain.

There's no reason to ruin a perfectly good paint job just to change the color. It'd be easier just to sell in and buy a black FX, maybe even cost less.

Tell me about it!

I washed/clayed/waxed my car yesterday and it's ready dirty.

My dad use to paint cars and he used quality PPG products only, 15 years experience and a nice paint booth, black color is one of the hardest to lay on the car, red color would be the most expensive. He painted a FX45 for 1,300 and it looked very good. The reason others charge so much is mostly for the labor, the paint cost 400 per few pints to cover the car and since its so hard to paint a black color it would be much more costly.

I think the bronze goldish FX35's looks the cleanest.

+1

Could be very true.

Although black would cover the silver nicely.

But painting a red car to black, whoooa good luck there!
