Track Events In New England
Brian, you coming to watch this weekend? Last event there were 133 cars.
They finally posted the results from 3 weeks ago. I herd their Administrator moved :/ Again a solid 1st place finish. There was only one Novice Non-Stock there that beet me, A STI I believe. I don't know what was done to the car.

1st place novice stock again. This should put me into the points lead over the Miata driver.
Fastest Novice time was again taken from me by an EVO. I need to check if he's running racing tires.
There was some S4 in the FS class. That thing sounded like a beast. Just looking on MSN.com it's no wonder it is a 4.2L 8cyl!

This is one of the best events. Your not under pressure to get a good time therefore you only have to push your car as much as you want (i.e. hit less cones). You can drive alone or get an instructor to ride with you or even drive your car. There is very little down time so out of 8 hours at Devens you probably get about 4 hours of seat time.
I went to watch one of these last year just after I moved up here. I just walked around watching people beat on their Bimmers (90% were BMW's, the others were Porsche's). Thay set up a slalom, small AutoX course, and a "bean" (essentially a track that looks like a D).
So I know it's free to watch or 50$ to beat on your own car. Also, The web site says you don't need to be a member for this event. However only 50 cars are allowed and 70 people are already signed up. I don't know if they are going to do a lottery or get more instructors. If I end up rejected I'll be heading up to NHIS to join the SCCNH for a day of autocross.
Note: You do need to pre-register for all BMW events. If accepted, generally they send you a 50$ bill to a paypay account.
In short... Ok, I'll keep you informed.

I'd like to come to this one with you. Call me a week ahead to confirm, but we'll ride up together.

and
at the same time. There seem to be a common theme in your attendance bracket.
Man! Just signed up for the 8-25-07 ADSS in NHIS.
Question... don't see any requirement for helmet for the Advance Driving course. Is one needed? If so can I borrow yours?
My helmet is being held hostage. Me thinks me see-eth "G" painting a car with the helmet on his head. I guess for slip and fall... it make sense.
Any case hope can save some cash to make out to this event. It be nice to have you there and get some advice on the afternoon AutoX portion.
The ADSS is a pretty expensive event for your first time out. Somewhere between 65-105$ depending on the situation (You can probably haggle). And you have to preregister and prepay for it. However you will learn more about your Z then a typical autocross day.
This will actuall be my first ADSS and I hear they set up a skid pad (wet and dry) then try to get you to drift around it without spinning.
I don't mind you borrowing my helmet but I don't know how they are going to setup this event. But that is courious that there is no mention of a helmet requirement. I just assumed one is needed espically because of the autocross at the end of the day. May be worth you sending an email to the registrar.

Skid pad! Sick!
Learning to grip before you slip all in one day.
I just watch my intro vid this weekend--->

Can wait!
Just found this on the site:
Tech Inspection
All participants will receive a Pre-Event Safety Inspection Report. You will be required to have a qualified individual/mechanic inspect your vehicle and verify its safety. This inspection should occur within three weeks of the event. At the time of the inspection, the participant must sign the completed Pre-Event Safety Inspection Report.
The Pre-Event Safety Inspection Report must be presented to the Boston Chapter Tech Personnel at the track on the day of the event. The participant will not be allowed to drive the vehicle on the track without first presenting a signed and completed Pre-Event Safety Inspection Report. In addition, on the morning of the event our tech crew perform a spot check of every vehicle.
The Driving School participant is solely responsible for the condition of the vehicle to be driven to, at, and from this event. You are solely responsible for insuring that your vehicle is safe before you come to the track.
Failure to present a completed Pre-Event Safety Inspection Report or failure to pass our spot check will disqualify you from participation in the event and your entry fee will be forfeited.
Other Requirements
All participants must present a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years of age. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed in the pit area.
All participants must wear helmets bearing Snell 2000 (M or SA) or later certification. No exceptions.
Seat belts (same type for both driver and passenger) must be securely anchored to the floor and/or stock mountings. If your vehicle is equipped with racing harness/belts both driver and passenger harness/belts must be within the valid SFI or FIA dating. SFI dating is 2 years from date of manufacture and FIA indicates the year of expiration. Stock and "Schroth type" Street Legal belts must be installed according to manufacturers specifications without modification and must NOT be faded, frayed, damaged, or significantly worn.
Under no circumstances will timed laps be permitted! If you are seen with a timing device (stop watch, On-Board-Computer timer, etc.) at any time, you will be asked to leave and forfeit your ability to participate in this or future Boston Chapter Driving Schools.

Note: At the end of the movie where Vin Diesel shows up in his American Hot Rod, they actually had to remove the ticket booth from the garage because the car was to big to fit
They (FCSCC) posted the results before I even got home today! 1st place street tire.

BTW when do they send an acceptance E-mail?
An acceptance email... I'd give silva@boston-bmwcca.org a try. But if your check has been cashed that would also be a good indicator that you've been accepted.
