G and Z meet?

Does anyone want to start and brain storm a G and Z meet?

I posted this on the Dallas Import forums. Here is the link to the site if anyone is curious.

http://www.dallasimports.net/forums/...owtopic=158861

Currently I'm talking to two shops right now and there both interested in helping out. We been shooting emails back and forth to get this started, but our main concern is how to keep this flowing.

But I open this thought to the floor. Anyone is welcome to add there two cents on this topic.

Thanks.

Ok man let me clarify for you. Read carefully. I wrote, IS ANYONE INTERESTED IN STARTING A G AND Z MEET. Not your cars and coffee picture.

Dude, read before you post man.

So with your non related post would you have any idea or way of contributing?

I'm not sure if you are talking about a meet just in the Dallas area, but Nismo Fiesta is in San Antonio and it's all Nissans and Infinitis. There are groups traveling there from all over the state.

Here's a thread about a group coming from Houston. Start up a group and all cruise down together from Dallas.

Well there is cars and coffee every month that goes on. Not sure if this would work or not but I will give it a try. Only thing that I would recommend is to make it in the center of the metroplex because there are some people who travel from Ft.Worth and for them to travel to Plano, Frisco area is kind of a long drive to them.

I took account for that already, but you have any idea, clue, etc to make this a good turn out. My whole goal is not to have a bunch of people gather, and then all of a sudden they all start to dissipate.

You have any clue on how to get this going. I posted this up on the G35,350,370, and here. So far nothing. Everyone must hate the thought of this or something

I can tell you from similar experience in Houston just a few years ago that it's harder than you'd imagine to get a regular meet together and well supported. I can give you a few things that worked for us (Strictly G's) if you like.

First of all, be patient and don't get frustrated. It may take more time and effort than you realize to get this going and get a decent regular turnout.

Be persistent. You may drive somewhere several times and only have 1 or 2 others show up. Or have nobody show up even after they've said they would. Keep scheduling it and keep going.

Don't reinvent the wheel. If there are already import meets or general meets that are very popular and well attended, you might use them as a starting/recruiting point. Remember that every G enthusiast isn't a forum member. If there is an established Z crowd that regularly meets already (like Z club of Houston does here), contact whoever is in charge, introduce yourself, and tell them you're interested. Go meet them. Get to know them. Pick their brain and ask their input of you want to get more G's involved.

Go to shows and meets to find like minded owners. You may be willing to travel to events in nearby places and seek out others in a bigger area. DFW Metroplex is a large sprawling area. Be prepared to put in miles.

Once you find one or two people who are interested and get to know them, it seems to be easier to attract others when you've got a group that has fun together. Even if it's a small group. Strictly G's started out as just a couple of us that regularly attended most of the local meets and got to know each other and became great friends. We have grown our official team slowly and selectively. We have been patient and gotten to know other G owners very well and become true friends with them before they are invited to join our official Strictly G's team. It's not just for everyone who drives a G. But then we also meet and hang out with dozens of others and have fun with them too. It's not about being snobby and we try our best to support other groups as well when they have a charity event, meet, or function.

Plan an event people want to come to. When the weather is good have a BBQ. Go to a track day. Got to an Auto X event. Have a karting meet. Have a D&B night. Meet at a popular bar or restaurant and share a meal and a drink. Invite G groups from other cities.

These are just a few things I can think of. I mentioned the Nismo Fiesta in an earlier post. That's probably a good place to meet other G owners from your area. Best of luck and I hope it works out well and you get a good core group together. Feel free to browse our forum and our sister club's forum to get ideas from what we're doing in Houston and Austin.

Yeah kind of that BB said. There are a lot people who live near the Ft. Worth area that would love to meet up with people but they are not willing to drive 20+ miles every single week. Now if it was in the middle where they might drive 10 or so then I know for a fact they would be a lot easier. Remember location is a key. Don't make it to far or to close for people. Try to meet them half way. If you are willing to have a meet then let me know I will meet you and help you out.

I've got some buds with sick Zs that may be interested in coming out. When I went to Cars and Coffee, they went to a different meet. People have tried to get others to meet locally but people check the forums at random times, so it'd have to be well in advance, or a structured meet like Cars and Coffee with a set recurring date and time. I'd have to look back in the forums, but someone said people meet up weekly on Friday nights off of Alma. It is a mix of cars though. I've seen meets at the Olive Garden in Frisco, but not sure if they meet there any more. There's a lot of G's in Dallas/Plano, but they're not on the forums, like Black Betty was talking about. Regardless, I'm up for a meet. Do we have any shoo.ters here or does that interest anyone? Elmfork skeet shooting off of 635 and Luna is always a blast, pun intended. It's in between Dallas and Fort Worth.
I'd even be up for a trip to Houston to check out the StrictlyGs rides. @BlackBetty, do you guys have any events you'll be going to or hosting?
**EDIT TO POST** apparently "s h o o t e r s", if not interrupted by another character, becomes shooters with the emoticon, which would make my question complete different.

Dzil,

Not sure when we'll have our next open event, but I'll be sure to let you know well in advance. We'd love to have some folks from Dallas visit and we'll do all we can to accommodate. As I mentioned NISMO Fiesta is the next public event on our calendar right now. Between now and then we have a show in Baytown (IFO, don't remember the date).n Probably a karting session at Track 21 in February or March and maybe one more I can't remember at the moment. If you check out our forum periodically you'll see what we're up to. Feel free to attend anything posted.

kpjc4eva,

Have you been to Cars and Coffee in Plano yet? I ask because it is an organized event, happening at the same time each month, yet only a couple of us go. More Zs than Gs. Building traction from an existing event may be the best way. If people won't come out to an organized event with a lot of amazing cars, like Cars and Coffee, I don't see them coming out for a couple of Gs. Thoughts?

AUS10TAC10US used to live by me and has a cleeeean G coupe. Perhaps a PM to the folks who say they're in the Dallas area, inviting them to Cars and Coffee, will be the best way.

I've got to run but will stay tuned regarding meet ups. PS, welcome to the Dallas area and sorry that the pics ended up in your thread, hopefully we can get them moved. Who knows, it could end up being a helpful mistake. Maybe people see your thread, see my pics, and decide that they'll take their Gs to the next Cars and Coffee. There's been months where I'm the only G. I'd love to see more Gs up there.

I'm not being critical at all. I didn't understand how you posted twice that was irrelevant to the topic. But if you say its a mistake, then its a mistake. For me I'm just direct and straight forward. Just how I am before, in the corps, and I'm going to continue to be the same. Take it however you like it. It's the internet. You should never get butt hurt through a computer. No one is putting you down nor belittling you. Catch my drift?

And no I never been to Cars and coffee here in Dallas. I did attend in Irvine in California. It was a good way to meet CEOs, CFOs, Presidents of companies so I always went. The outcome was always a positive on the business perspectives. Here in Dallas i heard it was a joke so never bothered to go. I went to a bunch of car meets in Dallas, and people always tell me that its impossible to do certain things to my car, or that I'm lying to them. Kinda got sick of it honestly. But thanks for the input guys. The only reason why I want to start a G and Z meet is, Dallas has nothing good. This place sucks, its boring, and there are so many places you can go to before you get sick of it. Even the car scene is weak, Houston on the other hand is different. You guys have TX2K which is gold. This is my main reason as to why I want to start a G and Z meet. If it doesn't work out, oh well. I have TX2K to look forward to every year and it will be good enough for me.

PS NEW GEORGE BUSH TOLLWAY THAT LINKS WITH 30. OHHHH YEAHH FOR DFW. Get your bars up!
