Suggestion: Allow Kill Stories

I don’t know who made this rule, but the “no posting about racing” is kind of ridiculous and this is why. Before I get the typical white knight response of “Why you need to show how you drive like an a-hole?” or “Not a good idea to race on public roads” let me just point out that most members here are dumping ridiculous money on mods and you’re trying to tell me that they have not used it on the street past the speed limit? Yeah, right. That is like saying someone bought a chocolate cake to look at and not eat. I just cringe when some try to uphold a pure image but have mods meant to go fast. Many members would like to know the comparisons of the G to other cars on the streets, or how it handles on the streets and not a prepped race track. There was a thread 1 or 2 years ago I actually found interesting in when the OP mentioned how he raced a random Mercedes S500 and was beating him since the MB had more weight and 40 hp more. Eventually it got locked or something.

There’s a NicoClub member that lives a few blocks down me with a Z and he is also “against street racing” on some forum posts. Yet, when I walk my dog I see him driving like a madman and it really just proves that this rule is more to uphold an image than anything since we’re all guys here with a fast car. Even Lexus forums allow kill stories, and their cars are practically meant for old people and are not sport sedans like the G. Car reviewers you guys watch on television race on public streets (Top Gear, Car Throttle, Fifth Gear, Grand Tour, etc.) I believe kill stories genuinely give something to talk about because it seems on these forums it’s just the same group of people always posting about similar boring things or that newbie who joins to just ask a question or breaks one of the rules and gets banned/locked which leaves a bad taste for them making them go to FB which consists of people talking about kill stories and gives them something to talk about moving the conversation. Just my $0.02 and an idea.

Wonder how many crashes happened near a theater after viewing fast'n'furious. The young (old too) male cannot restrain self to not do something stupid. Remember the video of the kid in AZ launching his bimmer into some rocks because he thought it was just like a video game.

I'm sure we can have a discussion, but it's not going to happen.

People are going to race, whether or not they are allowed to post about it. Allowing people to post about isn't going to have an affect on the number of people that do street race.

I used to think that way too, certainly more so when I was younger. For each event, there's the hindsight that says, "Hey, no one got hurt (that time), so what's the harm?" It's not an intelligent rationale, but there it is anyway. But now when I look back at kill stories from years past, there's far more shame than there is bragging rights. There is a line that is crossed by normalizing or enabling this behavior. It's a line between fun and aggression, between fun and reckless endangerment, between fun and stupid.

However, it is admittedly a wide and fuzzy line, and it's often subjective. Therefore, the only way to avoid it here on the forum is to shut it down entirely.

So... absolutely not. Hard stop. The way is shut.
