Vendor and Product Discussions
Vendor and Product Discussions
Let's keep business threads separate from discussion threads.
It's informative to hear the vendors discuss the merits of their products over another. However, agree with other posters that this kind of discussion should not be in a vendors' group buy thread. There should be a clear rule that states vendors should not jack another vendors' business thread. Even non-vendors should refrain from doing so because the vendor may feel the need to step in. They can talk about their own product in their thread, but no reference to competitors.
It's more professional this way. It's akin to respecting the boundaries of doing business. You just don't go into a Safeway and diss about them trying to convince everyone to run into the A&P across the street.
Think about someone who has already decided that they want in on the group buy. One thread is 12 pages and a number of pages in it did not relate to the group buy. The people who are still shopping around can read about the pros/cons of the various products in those other threads. If the customer does not want to shop around, that's their prerogative.
The alternative is that each vendor feels compelled to sully the others' group buy thread to level the playing field and sway the customer's decision. Customer is in middle of crossfire. Having another vendor say something negative in their group buy is like having them spray graffiti on their store front "xxx sucks, go to yyy instead"
. The proper place for that is in the advertising battlefield.
Hopefully, all the group buy threads can be split off properly, without deleting the good information already posted. Each vendors' design choices have merit, so let the buyers decide.
Not blaming any vendor, but it kind of snowballed out of control, each vendor trying to protect their image. Doesn't matter who started, it really doesn't look professional for a business.
